Spoke to OOIDA regarding having my full name on the side of my truck after getting my authority. They quoted the regs, that if the truck is in your name John Worthington III, then you must have "John Worthington III" on the name on your door.
They said you cannot even put JW3 or anything like that.
Those are the regs. I am asking guys that have their own authority, do you have your name on your truck, in that manner, or do you shorten it, or did you create an LLC or similar to put JW3
or does DOT not ever bother you if you do shorten it?
The NAME on your truck

Just as a side note, CRST. i have never seen what that is an abbreviation for, or is that the name of the company?
JCT has John Christner Trucking on the side of all of his trucks. -
EZX1100 Thanks this.

ok, i never knew that, thanks
TruckerSue Thanks this. -
Alot of these companies create sub-division legally within the corporation. Each of these sub-divisions can have there own names, so to make them transparent you can simply abbreviate. Such as CRST / Cedar Rapids Steel Transport.
I believe John Christner spells in out on the Cab, And use the JCT abbreviation on the trailers. Personally I would not name the company after myself, It is better for a name to tell the person reading what your company does or provides service wise. That way even the names is working for you. -
crst made there money in the 60s and 70s hauling grain into chicago and steel back into the midwest. and tmc years ago called themselves by the there real name and not tmc. b careful out there

I think you can put whatever you want on your truck as long as it doesn't contradict with the required carrier name and DOT number. I have my handle on mine I don't want my real name flying around out there for any ID thief to see.
You can put "CAT house" on the side of the hood, "I went broke trucking" or whatever the fluk you want.
Remember unless you are a carrier you are not an "operator" you are a driver. -
i am talking about the official carrier name if you have your own authority
sorry if i didnt make that clear
