My instructor told me I don't have to straight line back, alley dock or offset

He told me all I have to do is the verbal air brakes, the parallel parking and the driving part

    Can anyone confirm this?

Be a bummer to show up and be asked to do one of the others huh? What does it matter? Be sure you can do anything they ask of you.
    Good Luck

My instructor said he's only gonna teach me those things, cause that's what the test is he says

He has 17 years OTR training experience

Yep. What he said. Plan for the toughest and hope for the easiest.

Doing it all on my own

Question, how big is the space they give you? Isn't it like 70 or 100 feet?

My trailer length is 28 feet

    1. check truck ( safety check. lights, horn, brakes)
    2. air brake test
    3. drive to area for backing test... straight back 50-100 feet or whatever the examiner tells you
Then pull forward and parallel park. In reality you're simply moving the t/t about 6-7 feet to the right. Stay off the line or grass. ( same as curb)
    4. Drive where they tell you. Check mirrors every 8-10 seconds. Keep up with traffic. Try to shift without grinding too many gears. Make sure you're in gear, no coasting. Come to complete stops. If traffic, wait until clear. Turn into the correct lane.
The driving is how you drive any vehicle, pretty simple.
Took test in Waxahatchie last August. Steps 1-4 and pass in that order.
    Good luck.

I'd personally be pretty PO'd if I was only taught EXACTLY what it took to pass the road test. We were taught TONS of stuff that would help us on the road, not just the test. What do you mean "verbal air brakes", like tell him how to check them but not actually do an airbrakes test? Seems shady to me.
