No Actually it won't matter or make that much of a difference. Basically all a terminal is, is where your DM is located and other admin staff, safety, etc. Maintainence can be done at any location = term. Depending on your situation just find a good safe place where you can leave your equipment either bobtail or trk/trl parked without getting a ticket or having it towed or broken into while your away from it. I live a few miles from my term, so I have my car here, and park the trk here while at home. but if I lived say a hundred miles away from term, I would make other arrangements. etc
Pmracing Thanks this. -
well i live in the country and i can either park it here or know several different places to drop the trailer to take truck home to clean out i have several different ideas since i do live in the sticks

Terminal location has no bearing on home-time. When I was with Swift, my home terminal was a 2 hour drive from my house, so I just took the truck home and parked it in the driveway. To be honest, you really don't even HAVE to go home for home time, just tell your DM where and when and they will get you a load going that way.

There's one in Gary In.
I know it's not Il.
Also one in Manteno. -
I live in Boise, ID and my home terminal is in Lewiston, ID. It's about 5 hours from my home. I was told that Swift will find a load through my home area when I want home time. I can drop the trailer in the yard in Boise and bobtail home.

Swift has a 50 mile policy. If you live more than 50 miles from the home terminal they simply get you a load near the zipcode you put in for home time. If you live 50 miles or closer, they want you to park in the terminal, otherwise take the truck (and usually empty trailer) home with you.
I've even seen some drivers that live closer than 50 miles change their home terminal to another one so they can still take the truck home. One driver I knew lived in Toledo, OH which was less than 50 miles from New Boston, MI terminal, but set up his home terminal as Columbus, OH so he didn't have to park his truck at home time.Pmracing Thanks this. -

Having room to park the full rig at home and have fido keeping an eye on it while you are home, sleeping, fishing, pleasuring the spouse.., (can I say that?) is an ideal situation!
