Quick question, what is the difference between a company terminal and company drop yard? Would a terminal be a place where company drivers can relax, park their cars, park their trucks, and sleep in? Lets say if you are homeless, are there rooms inside the company terminals you can live in? So then what is a drop yard? Thanks in advance.

A terminal is the business address of the company for legal reasons and will usually have bathrooms, offices etc. The drop yard is a storage facility for trailers although some drivers hired by a company will park their trucks there on off days but it is not their "home terminal".
-
A drop yard might also be a receiver or shippers property, where you 'drop' empty trailers, for them to use.

Some terminals have bunk rooms for drivers & offices, maintenance shop, etc. A drop yard usually is where you drop a trailer and maybe pick up another trailer; usually no facilities there.

Yeah, a terminal will be company HQ's with offices/shop/storage etc. Not many today have sleeping facilities, if they do, it's a bunk room type thing with the restroom down the hall. A drop yard is usually a rented dirt lot the company found without facilities available and a chain link fence around it. May or may not have security.

A terminal is where you go for orientation, where all the offices are located at,where the drivers park their cars if they choose to leave the trk while on home time.A drop yard is where many loaded trls are stored for drivers. It's nothing more then a dirt lot and most don't have a security guard.I don't think any terminals have rooms to stay in.Why would you be homeless at a terminal if you're driving their trk.If a company leaves you homeless, you'll have to find your way home and they would not provide a room for you even if say terminals did have rooms.

I can think of two right off hand that had bunkrooms. Swift's terminal in Phoenix and ITC's in Merrill, WI.

One flatbed company I once worked for had a bunkroom with TV and showers. Could stay there as long as you needed; waiting for dispatch, waiting for maint. or a load or restart. It was free also. Several companies have them.
