ccording to the Teamsters website they represent the following trucking companies:

ABF, DHL, YRC, PENSKE Truck Leasing, UPS Freight

How come so many truckers complain abt their paltry wages and benefits when they could go with any of these companies and double their income with full benefits coverage?

    Insecure abt unions?

    Can’t meet their application requirements?

I’m starting to fill out applications myself. Anyone out there work for any of these guys? Thanks!!

Depends what you're comparing them to. Not everyone wants to work for an LTL, which is where the teamsters have their base of support.

I meet the requirements for UPS, and all the others. And I'm not insecure about unions in any way. The reason I don't work for them has been confirmed by a buddy of mine who happens to work for UPS. Micromanagement... He and I speak nearly every night, and the BS he puts up with for his big paycheck is laughable. Safety quizzes every night before he can get in his truck. Constant safety reminders over the computer. We often joke about some of them. The constant nit-picking by management over the most petty things. He's always stressed out it seems.

No thanks. I like my freedom just fine. That endless babysitting might be fine for someone, and that's great if they can do it, and I respect their decision to deal with it. But it's simply not worth the stress.

Union shops are just like non union shops. Some are run great, and they let you do your jobs and others are run terribly and they micromanage (among other things)

I’m a teamster now and it’s fine. I’ve also been in a non union shop and that was fine to. I wouldn’t base my decision on whether or not to take a job based on if it was union or non union. But that’s just me. Some people are hard core union supporters and some are hard core union detractors … to each their own.

Union is no guarantee of better wages. We voted against union when company came up with a solution to grievances. On the other hand some companies need unions to keep management in line.
