I have a highrise sleeper and recently started to pull a van. About 16" of trailer sticks above the cab. Anyone have any experience if a wing or whaletail help much with MPG? Thanks in advance

no they don't help. I saw taylors website saying the guaranteed 1/2mpg increase. what a joke. I'd like to see how that guarantee is written... We have run them all and the only thing you MAY see a slight increase from is a flat top sleeper but even then it was close enough that it wouldn't guarantee it wasn't driving differnce. when people WANT to get better mileage to check something they usually do.. unconsiously

My personal preference is the KW whale tail on the pete sleeper. the one you buy fro pete is too tall and the angle is too drastic. The kw one looks best

I agree. The wing is a joke and the tail looks better, but I doubt if there is any significant improvement in mpg to justify the cost.

yup, sorry. Of course if you want to see real benifits th only way to do it is by putting one on the sleeper, one on the cab, one on the hood and one on each fender. By doing that your fuel tanks will actually fill up while you drive down the road

Putting one of those wings on a high rise would be pointless. But putting one on a flat top is a whole nother story if your pulling a van! You'll gain around 1 to 1.5mpg with the wing.

You'd be better off with one of those whale tails on your high-rise, but would be pointless and look goofy as heck on a flattop.

no you won't. I've put them on flat tops and you get nowhere near that much increase .5 tops

Sorry MM but I don't think you know what your talking about here. I gained that just by raising mine a cpl of inches to kick the air over top of the van i was pulling.

Mines always been on my truck since I bought it. For the most part its always down. When I first started pulling vans the wing was at a height of 11' from the ground. Fuel mileage was around 5mpg, raised it a cpl of inches and mpg's went up to 6.2. Being that I've owned my truck for now over 10 yrs I'll have to say my driving style didn't make the difference.

This was also done when I was pulling those crappy containers. When I was pulling a good 53' smooth sided van I had gotten as high as 7.2 with a 3406B turning 16-1800rpm.

I've seen fuel increases with them but not like that. we've had a half dozen of them back in the late 80's early ninties

You have to keep in mind you can raise them up to high! I did it and lost fuel mileage!!! I tried mine at several different heights to get the best mpg's.

You also have to keep in mind, if you have a bunch of drivers in the trucks, back then nothing was gonna help your MPG's! Sorry but drivers don't run them like O/O's do. They all thing they are driving a racecar!
