How many have taken tarp load with NO Intention of tarping it?
Like the one I picked up in the rain in a mud field.
Or better why tarp GALVANIZED metal?

Oh because the idiot dispatcher or broker sold the load as a tarp load because it's cheap to tarp (so they think). Tarping galvanized makes no sense but that's like tarping I beams used for building why the hell should I tarp it when it's going to sit outside on a job site for 3 weeks and rust while sitting there.

We live in a world full of idiots...what more can I say...other than I fall in that category of idiots sometimes.

Hopefully, your idiot category falls in the same place as mine; it usually involved a woman! I liked to think when it could cost me extra work or money, I use my brain! Didn't say use my head, thats where the idiot category could come into play! Lol...

i have ran 3 loads that were to be tarped, but did not tarp them. One was plate steel, that went 100 miles down the road on a sunny day, One was bagged clay in super sacks and I was told it could not be tarped on their property, so it did not get tarped at all. Also the bills did not say it required tarps.

Last load was shingles. after I booked the load, and loaded it up, I called the agent to tell them I was loaded and on my way to the home depot DC for my AM delivery, and they told me I needed to tarp it as they won;t accept the load if it's not tarped. To which I explained that the load was on and strapped. i refuse to tarp shingles as I see it is pointless and i would never have taken the load if it needed tarped. I told them i would see about having them remove the load from my trailer, to which the agent was not happy about. but it was not my problem. Amazigly (sarcasam) the agent got the Ok to deliver the load not tarped... I've never ran a load for them since.

I try to steer clear of ANY tarped loads, but sometimes a tarp load is all that's available in a certin area OR it pays so well that i will break out the tarps. The last load I tarped (electric motor) paid me an extra $200 tarp fee for a 17x8x6 piece. I don;t mind spending an hour throwing tarps for $200 lol

last one I had was galvanized metal. The shipper didn't care but this broker had sent a GREAT BIG instruction sheet with the bol. It said they couldn't give me my paperwork less it was tarped. I told them it was to hot and broker was stupid anyway. The broker called and said: you said you'd tarp, I told him I say lots of things I don't mean. Marriage does that to you. They found me a nice shady spot and I covered the whole amount of 20x6x3 and took forever so they couldn't go home early. The load did pay 2.60 a mile. got to the consignee and they was going to refuse it cause they didn't have an outside forklift.
broker paid me an additional 125.00 to manuallly unload 20 pieces of metal so it wasn't bad after all.

Well ya done hit the nail on the head with that one. It's always a female in there causing problems. Last one appearntly has attachement issues after she ended the relationship:biggrin_25526: now don't that make a lot of sense? Don't believe what she's told everybody anyway and I ain't talked to her again probably never will. Breakup suck but they're part of life but #### it feels good to be single again no more wasting money on somebody else it's time to chrome out the truck and light her up even more:biggrin_2559:. Gotta get me a set of 8" flat tops, PDI stage 2 turbo, ECM, and a chrome rooster hood ornament...along with the rubber chicken for the door and some more pretty lights.:yes2557: Fuel her up and haul ### down the road. It's like gary allen said 100 cups of coffee 500 cigarettes 1000 miles of highway but I ain't forgot her yet...them big wheels of rubber gonna rub her offa my mind! I'm a highway junkie and I need that old white line!:biggrin_25525:

if I accept the load knowing it is a tarp load , I tarp it, we get a tarp charge for every load that is tarped. I I accept it as being a tarped load, I tarp it. to do otherwise is dishonest if you collect a tarp fee, if you don't tarp give the fee back.

Sometimes the load needs to be tarped to keep the road grime off of it. Especially road tar.

This is why I want to keep a few rolls of clear wrap on the truck for the smaller loads.

I hauled a load of primered forklift counterweights. It was supposed to be tarped only to keep the road tar off of them. Either tap, wrap, or run it through a truck wash before I got to the receiver. The shipper didn't care if I left untarped, and the receiver stated on the BOL the tarps are to be removed before entering the property.
