I just give mean looks to people when I get in and out of my truck. Some times you run into a son-of-a-gun who isn't too quick between the ears and you just have to walk over and put a big middle finger right in his face. besides that, and beating a man to death with my 4lb hammer and crowbar in Chicago Heights, I haven't had a bit of problems in 20 years of trucking.

We'll I'm a company driver. If someone wants old rusty chains and tapes with half the d rings missing I can let you know where I am so they can be stolen. Only way I will get some new ones. Better yet if your in MN come steal my headache rack. That way boss will have to get a new one when I get new truck next year.

Yeah.... I had a customer that I moved machiner for and they were required... I hated those things and wasn't too heart broken to see them disappear but its the principle ....

something else funny, after they stole my 2nd set, I had another set w holes in them and thought, Id get these suckers, I placed them on top of a trailer I don't use and left them there. Figured they would steal them and save me the hassle of throwing them away..... Well what do ya know, they didn't take that set.... I had to get rid of em on my own LOL

The thieves prolly thought it was too obvious you wanted them to be stolen, and suspected a trap. Maybe that's the way to keep from getting your new tarps and such from being stolen.... just leave out in the open with nothing on them. :p

I had an open headache rack and tarp tray on my Pete about a year or so ago. 12 ratchet binders, 10 20 foot chains, three piece lumber tarp set and a smoke tarp, all less than 3 months old. Parked my truck in the company yard and took 4 days off at a local hotel. Came back from my time off to discover that someone had taken ALL my gear. Apparently a company driver complained that his truck had no gear on it, so a dispatcher told him to check the trucks up against the south fence and take what he needed. My truck and 6 retired company trucks were parked there. They never did tell me who the company driver was or where my gear was, but they said they'd replace all of it. Okay, fine, I said.

I went into town to grab some groceries, and when I came back, yup, there was now gear on my truck. Rusty old beartrap binders, chains, and a tarp set that had so many patches in it I bet I could have barely lifted it. I complained, and the response I got was "Well, can you PROVE you had all that expensive gear?" I still had all the receipts in my truck, so I showed them, and also told them to either replace my gear with the exact same and swap MY headache rack for one of the fancy 3 door locking enclosed units they had just gotten at no cost to me, or they could tell me who had my gear so I could get the police involved.

It cost me an extra 2 days off, but I wound up with the same brand of binders, same quality chains, tarps that were actually better quality than the ones I had, and nice polished 3 door headache rack. Unfortunately 2 weeks later they let me and 6 other O/O's go... maybe unrelated, maybe not.

I had on rare occasions to crank the dollies down on the tarp then remove the handle. I will leave tarps on deck. use a long cheater bar to put chain down tight then loop chain with a case hardened pad lock DOD certified. . i have storage boxes on trailer. I run a chain under the box across the doors and up to the other side with a binder and lock it the same way. Never had anything stolen. I also have a lockable 6 door head ache rack. But to assist in keeping my stuff I have dummy cameras on the head ache rack facing rearward and slightly downward and on the top mirror brackets in addition to the dash cam that works. So far nothing stolen. A few years ago when there was 76 truck stop in Houston on HY 45 Ryan road I have caught someone trying to steal my gear and I doubt today he can reproduce offspring and I know walks with a limp. I was in the truck when he tried. Poor baby was stealing gear then going to the Key TS and selling it.
