I’m curious to know how long are most tankers?? Is there a normal length like a flat bed or box trailer??

Really depends on the product being hauled. Our fuel tankers are 48'.

We have 42',43' and 45' fuel tankers. 45' is a hassle for some stores, 43' is what I pull.

No normal length, hieght or width. Some are short like mine coming in at 38 feet, but stands to 12' 2" others are long at 48ft and stand at 12' 2" and less.

Most tankers about 99.9% are 96" wide. Im sure theres 96"+ to 102" tanks somewhere, ive just never seen them.

Probably some unlucky driver has a 102" tank standing at 13' 6" 53' long. I would really hate to be that guy.

With tanks, the size will depend on customer and product loading. You do not want too big a tank, you also dont want too small a tank either.

Tankers are like condoms. Small, long, skinny, fat, ribbed sides, smooth sides, hazardous material carrying, thick wall, thin wall....your options are endless.

Well the bulks we had were 40 foot. They were essentially unchanged when I last hauled them in Little Rock. Somewhat easier to get into the plant. No lighter though. In the 80's we topped out at 80K gross in Little Rock sometimes we put 110K on there, filling almost to the hatch. Getting it out of Redfield with flyash that heavy is always a "Joy"... not.

The milk tankers sometimes were not that long. Just enough to hold on to a day's production long enough to get it delivered in the city same day. It's heavy enough as it was when both tanks are full somedays not even that halfway. Depends on how the Cows were doing.

No more than 45 feet i would say for the pneumatic tanks. Theres a lot of dead space that doesnt sit above any axles on dry bulk tanks, so length isnt what your going for when you haul heavy dry products. Now light products? Stretch that trailer out as far as possible and load it to gross. Some products youll fill a dry bulk tank and wont be close to gross weight.

Ive hauled 45' sugar/flour pneumatic tanks. 4 hoppers. 50k of sugar to a load. Some pneumatic tanks will be 1, 2, 3, -5 hoppers. Hopper size and length of trailer all depends on product. We got some quarry guys around here running 3 axle pneumatic tanks in 3 fat arse hopper wells running flyash to the quarry all day long. Their tank part is maybe 25- 30 ft long but thewhole trailer is probably 45 feet. Lots of air space.

Just because the tanks are huge looking, does not mean they are filled to max volume. Except that middle pic. We used to haul soribtal/sorbitol? Up to NY with a tank like the middle pic. Product would be pouring out the lids but only hitting 30k. Ridiculously light stuff.

Smooth bore from qc? Standard size among a "standard" for tanks. Majority of qc tanks you'll see can haul most of their products except the special stuff.
So those common qc tanks will probably be upwards of 42-45 feet.
