Or use air release pins.
Bah, didn't matter, I had to slide the tandems twice in the last month and both times there wasn't enough grip on the ground. Ice. Either the drives spun like crazy or I dragged the whole trailer with the wheels locked.D.Tibbitt and stillwurkin Thank this. -
Pull out the handle as much as you can and put a set of vise grips on the handle to create tension on the slider pins.
Go back in the tractor and rock the trailer back and forth to release the pressure off of the pins.
Go back to the tandem handle and you should be able to pull the handle out all the way. -

With the next one, a bungee cord just long enough to stretch between the handle and the side of the trailer...then rock the trailer a bit, that will give you enough tention to get them started, then you can pull it out the rest of the way...or, like others have said...hammer time. Worked for Crete many years ago and they had a bunch of those kind of trailers that didn't have the spring assist on the sliders...after 15 min of giggle the trailer, try to pull handle, giggle...pull...giggle....pull, I got out my hammer. The shop guy said he could see this hammer come out from under the trailer and a loud BOOM...said if I ever abused a trailer like that, he'd have me written up...I handed him my pen and said go for it...they'll discover ya'll aren't servicing the trailers right, and we'll both be in the bosses office...and I can find a job like this tomorrow
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

Will have to try that tool next time I slide my tandems on my pup.
