Stopped at a truckstop in Manchester,Tn on I-24. Grabbed a cold sun-drop. While I was paying, watched two kids and a wife hop in the semi with husband driving. 4 people in all. Is that normal to take your whole family trucking?

I did it once years ago. Wife, 3 year old, 6 year old, myself went trucking in a cab-over KW for 3 days. Only 'vacation' they got that summer. It was OK, kids never forgot it, wife [ now X-wife ] ,was not too thrilled , but she lived through it. Kids kept talking about how crooked it was, finally figured out they were talking about the hills / mountains. They had only seen flat-land before.

No !!! Most assuredly against the carriers policy ( kids ) and risky to the family. Our spouses can choose to be in the truck and can understand the risk, kids cannot.
Bad idea........

Did it myself years back. Wife, 2 yr old, and 4 yr old. But one thing that helped had a TV, VCR, and fridge to help keep them busy and fed. We loved every minute of it. My 4 yr old is now 16 (almost) and is bugging me to this day to go again when I get back out there. My wife is still talking about getting out with me again, especially when the kids are grown and out of the house. It's just not something I would advise doing for an expending time frame. It's cramped
! Plus hard to get good rest while you're sleeping and they're trying to be quiet and find some things to do, which is easier nowadays with computers on hand. It's something each person would have to consider with their own circumstances.

Heck see a lot of it , wife , few kids, dog ( Big & Small ) all pile out. Every once in awhile on here some even get the idea to live in the truck and home school the kids and you would be surprised of the SUPPORT they get regardless of the negative input from others.
TRKRSHONEY and camaro68 Thank this. -
If the guy I saw today would have had three more kids it would have looked like the Walton's stepping out of the rig...lol... I just never thought about carrying that many people in such small quarters. Internet, dvd player would keep them content for awhile.

i don,t see any problem with that. good to see families stick together. will have to watch and be careful around truckstops and docks with all the trucks moving around.but its a good way for kids to see the country.
