I am looking to purchase a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia but it is tag axle. I don't have any experience with them so not sure I want to spend money on it. Looking for pros and cons any help would be appreciated thanks.

Be leery of a truck used for heavy haul. Not that they are bad, but you have no idea what punishment it may have been subjected to.

I seen schneider tag axles stuck in parking lot, can't lock axle in so if you spin your stuck, they get stuck at Qualawash in West Memphis in potholes

Watch in winter time in any parking lots that aren't well cleared... extra chaining up to maybe get out. Full lockers, never had a problem. Worth the extra weight and reduced fuel mileage for me but then again I spend plenty of time north of i80 + Canada all winter..

All depends on how it is configured.

I'd pass on it, they get stuck a bunch, even on pavement.

    QuietStorm Thanks this.

I just spec'd one on my new truck. Uneven ground is the only time you'll have issues. Reason being, if your powered axle gets in the air and only the rear is on the ground, you can't move. The air management systems on these have come a long way and it will overload the powered axle when you lose traction to maintain traction. A 6X2 is better in snow and ice for that reason. Weight is what maintains traction, not how many wheels are powered. The European guys run 6X2 setups in the Scandinavian countries, and those conditions are a lot worse in the winter than here, and they don't have an issue.

The next thing is tire wear. You can't run these with a high torque output. All that torque is going to one axle. My motor is a 1450/1650 split torque. I'll only be putting out 1450 torque except for demanding conditions. Nussbaum, Mesilla Valley, and Ploger Transportation are good examples of companies running these and having great success.
