its a 1998 T401 kenworth with a cummins M11 celect plus, i have just found out that the taco gets its power from the ECM and also has a ground wire, but thats all i can find out so far. im thinking that the sensor that the ECM gets its info from may be faulty?? or maybe a bad earth from the taco?
taco stoped working

Might be worthwhile to check the connections at the back of the tach, itself. IIRC, the tach sensor should be down on the bellhousing, Check the wires there. Also see if the sensor is loose.
AUSSIE DAVE Thanks this. -
thanks, i will check those things. -
sure they don't call 'em tachs?

i can understand your logic, but no its taco. we have some very weird sayings here in oz, like fair dinkim, flat out like a lizzard drinking, bloody oath mate, etc -

update - i checked the bellhousing and there is no sensor so the ECM must run off the EPS which is a four wire EPS. when i cranked the engine over the taco needle moved a few times while cranking, but did not work once the engine fired. ? any ideas?
