TA or Love's for PM?

All depends on the location. Can't give a blanket good or bad for either

 

I prefer Speedco over either as a rule.

 

Love's- I've never done it there. TA's/Petros yes, but depending where and what crew there is at the time. The time record was at the TA in Ontario, CA -2.5 hours. Also, if they have one tech working on it and there is a road service call, they might leave you in the shop in the middle of it. Speedco is more expensive but more reliable - no issues there so far.

 

I think TAs hourly shop rate is now like $116 an hour. I've found Speedco really isn't significantly more expensive of late. And the staffing issue definitely comes into play. From that standpoint, Loves is the worst. I was having a tire replaced at a Loves a few months ago. Four trucks waiting, and the only other tech had to clock out to avoid going into overtime, customers be danged. I know they're all like that nowadays, but Loves seems to be the worst.

 

I've used those little "shops" at Love's for a number of things when I had to, never had any issues at all. Brake chamber, air leak, tires obviously. Were pretty quick on everything and done well. TA takes forever almost always, never had much luck with any of them over the years except the one in Kingman, AZ

 

Loves PM costs me $250, T/A pm $325
Loves does not carry Fleetguard filters for my truck, only Luberfiner

 

I like Speedco too. That's their specialty, they're set up to do it, and they get you in and out.

 

Go to speedco. That's what they do. Loves and TA? I don't trust either one
