T680 Headlight Assembly

    my truck has H11s so will any H11 fit the socket ?

    They did for my 660 and the cascadia I drive now.

    Make sure and get the 55W for your low beams, the 100W will definitely melt the connector.

    No completely sure. I just know that the mechanics at work have done lots of wiring repairs on the 680s.

    If you're looking for an aftermarket T680 headlight assembly you won't find one till at least 2024, as the OEM's have a patent that usually expires after 10 years so no aftermarket replacement parts can be copied or made till after the patent expires.

    The KW T680 was first introduced in 2014, so figure in about six more years (2024), you can expect aftermarket replacement parts to be readily available.

    The KW T660 was first introduced in 2007, that's why the aftermarket is saturated with tons of aftermarket replacement parts that started being produced last year.

    H11 halogen bulbs are available in 55 and 100 watt versions, we had a few guys replacing 55s with 100s and melting the wiring and connections in the early Cascadias. I prefer not overpowering everything else out there with overbright lights, I use stock color and might even go a little less in lots of fog, which I haven't experienced lately.

    Shop foreman told me to not ever replace with 100s and showed me the result. I don't know that it's for sure the problem because I did have a socket go bad even though I always use 55s, but if done and its overloading the system, it would cause that kind of failure.

    That's exactly what i thought was going on when the very first one melted after i bought the truck. When I was a company driver i always used 55w on the t680 I had and never had an issue. when the first bulb melted in this truck the first thing i noticed was that the bulb was a 100w. passenger side was 55w. I replaced the driver side with a 55w and it still melted after 2 or so weeks and has continued to do that. I'm wondering if the assembly wiring gets somehow permanently damaged once by an overpowered bulb and melts everything from then on.

    Check it over looking for signs of overheating of the connections and wires, other than that, I can't say.

    I'd go back to where the bucket wires are attached to the lighting harness. I'm not confident you'll find anything too obvious, though. Jury rigged electrical connections drawing much power are tricky, a proper repair gets rid of temporary fixes by attaching a new socket back to wiring that hasn't been melted in place.

    I am going to buy a new bucket, and run OPT7 LEDs in it.
