Eaton cannot build a reliable automatic transmission that actually performs well and as expected. I have had their late model 10 speed and 12-speed automatic transmissions and both had a variety of different issues, they are junk as far as I'm concerned. I love the Cummins x15 but these transmissions ruin the good aspects of that engine in so many ways.

I had the same issues with mine earlier this year. Had the shift stalk replaced and software updated. You really need someone that actually knows how to do the software update properly. I had to bring it in twice because the first MHC dealer service department did it incorrectly and made things worse. I ended up taking it to an MHC close to home who corrected it and got all the correct parameters back in. But now with only 200k on the truck the clutch went out yesterday on it, go figure. I heard this was also an issue on these.

Mine was the shift stalk. Got that replaced, downloaded the updates, and had no more issues with that truck. It’s a common problem with either PACCAR platforms.

Yep that was the same with mine. Got the stalk replaced and all the new updates installed not to mention a clutch replacement, how the hell does a clutch on an auto go out in 200k miles when it starts off in the proper gear it’s supposed to‍♂️. But anyhow it runs better than it did before. After 40 years in a manual my leg appreciates it around Atlanta

Because of how the automated system works. As you let off almost all the brake pressure, the clutch actuator starts releasing the clutch, which is slipping it. With 3 pedals, you wouldn’t necessarily start releasing the clutch while the brakes are still applied, unless on an uphill. The automated system ALWAYS does it. And, you may not even have the truck in gear, if on a downgrade. Yet, the automated system will still slip the clutch, because it’s in gear.

At my shipper, I have to back up a grade, into an uncushioned dock. I use both feet and apply enough fuel to start disengaging the clutch, while controlling the lurch with brake application. It’s so hard on the clutch, but, it keeps me from sending shockwaves throughout their building. I’ve never smelled burnt clutch, but, I know it’s drastically reducing its life.

How much did the clutch replacement cost?
