I moved to Chicagoland outskirts from TN. I lasted two years and couldn't bear it any longer and moved home. I'll save the particulars but it's like moving into the Twilight Zone.
It cost me over $5000 to move both ways. Save yourself the trouble and expense. You can live twice as good in the south.
You actually have 30 days from the move to change your CDL. IL does require you to do the driving test again. Like you get worse from the first test. If you have hazmat and twic, you have to go through them security checks again and fork out the bucks.
Chainbreaker is right. You need an address and proof of residency like a lease or mortgage agreement, voters registration card, etc. Seems like I got my car titled and registered and used that too. Like normal, the recruiter is fos. -
Ive been talking to a recruiter for driversolutions and looking at the website and the C1 website(for IN). Your required to transfer your DL to an IN DL. DL, and 2 pieces of mailed ID. (bank statement, utility bill) All have to have same address of them and dated less then 30 days from when you go. Had a big discussion with the recruiter about this. My DL is a WV DL, I moved to TN but never transfered them here because TN requires a marriage certificate to prove my last name. lol...I kind of lost that years ago. She was saying I didnt have to transfer them to TN, I made her ask her boss and the school. I had to have my daughter get one and mail it to me just to get a TN DL for less then a week.

California still requires anyone moving to the Golden State to pass the Class A written test and any Endorcement test when relocating there. Then you'll wait 10 weeks for your Licence (Hard Copy) to arrive at your home. Drivers must provide a Birth Certificate and SS Card when applying. After that you can start applying for the local trucking jobs. If your lucky you can get a job delivering pizza to help make ends meet if your day job hauling dirt only pays 10 dollars an hour!
