I can only speak for Western...I worked there almost 9 years ago on the flatbed side. I never sat and got a lot of miles, I just hardly got home. Cpm is on the low side, but the high miles made up for it. Overall I had a good experience, contrary to a lot of the Western Express bashing. To me, otr trucking is one in the same with few minor differences.

Thanks bryan. Well they said they'd let me park the truck at home. Swift and SNI I think want me at the terminal because both of them have one only 45 miles away. I wanted something in the northwest states only but all three wanted me to start off regional so the closer to home stuff will have to wait I guess.

It won't have to wait long brother. I remember some of the Western Express drivers on the west coast ran mainly the 11 Western States with a terminal in Fontana, CA. It always seemed like the guys on west coast we're happier than the guys on the east coast

I've only ever worked for swift.

    The pros:

I make decent money at a starter. 44 cents a mile

Pretty easy going and laid bacc company that gives you alotta chances and let's things slide

    No force dispatch

    Cons

Has contracts with some ####ty shippers and receivers

Not that good at getting you home on time

To be the largest carrier, their dedicated options succ

Swift has a big support staff during the week. Weekend staff not so great.
I worked for them between Dec 2012 and Oct 2015. Came back Aug 16 and not much has changed.
More. New trucks and alot of autos
They got me home 2 day early .
