I dont speak Chinese, so I wouldnt even think of going to China and trying to drive on their roads, not knowing what any of the signs meant.

Hey guys, I'm actually Cuban and speak both languages fluently with no accent, but I believe no matter how diverse this country is no one should "have" to learn Spanish. Even if it someone speak english with a strong accent, as long as they understand and try to communicate then its all good. Honestly, when I call somewhere and I get someone saying "huh?" because they don't speak English it pisses me off. The trucking industry is difficult enough and an essential part is communication, so how can someone who is not proficient with English even "safely" get things done.

Thanks Cron, there are alot of people with your view of things here in the valley once they get to know you and will speak openly. I don't have a problem with people speaking their native language with others if they are more comfortable with it, hell I would do the same thing in their place. My sole issue with this "acceptance" that some people seem to have is when it is related to work and safety.

Just why should LE have to learn to speak a foreign language to qualify for the job? Regardless of all the politically correct bull crap that is floating around, English is the standard language in this country. The language that the average person speaks. The language that is taught in most schools.
Now I was a cop down on/near the border with Mexico for a lot of years. And I learned a bit of Spanish while I was there. I did it so that I could do my job better, because of the location I lived and worked in.
But to make it a requirement, that every cop learns Spanish is just another way to waste time and money. Both can be put to better use.lonewolf4ad, chopper103in, 7122894003481 and 4 others Thank this. -
