A truck driver survived after crashing off of an overpass onto the northbound 5 Freeway in Los Angeles, California, this morning.
Trucker Survives Fall From Overpass Onto I-5
The crash happened around 10 a.m. in the San Fernando Valley area. According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck crashed through a concrete barrier on the westbound 118 Freeway interchange and fell onto northbound I-5 below. The truck came to a stop blocking several lanes of the freeway.
According to ABC 7, several other vehicles were also involved in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. CHP has not said whether the same heavy rains that have produced serious mudslides in the area could have contributed to the crash. At least five people have died as a result of the mudslides.
In the video below, you can hear one witness talk about his close call with the falling semi truck.

As someone who is looking forward to getting in to the business of trucking, I am not looking forward to #### like this happening. What's overkill when it comes to cautious driving? I know that I'll be driving a 40 ton vehicle and it can't stop on a dime and that scares the #### outta me. I also know that there are idiots that will pull in front of me and I can't control what happens after that. But, I don't wanna work myself in to such a knot that I have an accident from being to cautious.

Daycab. So a local driver who was familiar with the road. Heavy rain. I'll go ahead and say it, a daycab pulling an empty trailer and lost traction.
