Anyone drive for swift on a dedicated route from the Walmart distribution center in Monroe, ga? Looking at driving for them pulling a reefer but the recruiter says there is no promise that it is day or night runs and might have to work most Saturday's and possible stay out a few nights a week. I'm just looking to work there because it's so close to home and I have to drive so far just to get to my job right now and I want to be mainly local.

You won't be "mainly local" if there is a bed in the back...Swift and Walmart just seem like a bad combo.

Well at least they threw in the "no promise" clause. Most companies will promise you the moon and it ends up being Uranus instead.

I drove for Swift out of the Los Lunas, NM Walmart DC for about a month and a half.

That DC served all of NM, southern Colorado, and El Paso / west Texas and they ran 7 days per week night or day. Typically, I would hit 2 or 3 stores and then backhaul something else. For example, I recall one run where I dropped 1/3 of the trailer at a Wal-Mart in Albuquerque, then another 1/3 at the Wal-Mart in Espanola, NM and finally up to Cortez, CO where the remainder was left. Dropped off there around 22:30 and was scheduled to bring back a trailer full of potatoes from somewhere else in Colorado so I just stayed in the parking lot until my 10 hour break was up.

On average, I was out anywhere from 2 - 3 days (or nights) at a time and was home maybe long enough to take a short nap before one of the dispatchers was blowing up my phone telling me to come spend the rest of my 10 hour break sitting in the terminal. That was the main reason I didn't stay with them very long.

Yeah that sounds like a few other horror stories I've heard, I don't care to work for swift I was just looking at it for short term till I came buy my own truck and the terminal is like 5 minutes from my house
