We are signing up with Swift in September. When I contacted their HR department I spoke with a young girl that repeated the same sentence about 10 times! She wouldn't tell me a thing! Does anyone out there know what the premiums/co-pays/carriers are for a couple? Do they provide full medical/dental/vision? Do they provide a 401K and if they do, does the company match your contributions? Are you satisfied with the coverage? And when you are out on the road and get sick, where do you find a doctor that is within your plan?

Lots of questions, I know....but benefits are huge! We are getting any younger here!!

Thanks much, Thor and the Mrs.

I think this is a sign. I by no means have ever driven a truck, but if any company you want to work for dont tell you anything.. I'm just saying to look around a little more before you go with a company that dont communicate well. Hell, its a soldier thing.

Swift. Is this your only option? From all the drivers, reviews and forums ive looked at or talked to Swift is the bottom of the barreland the last place that a driver wants to end up.

Really? I'm curious which forum posts told you that. In my research, CRE is bottom of the barrel, followed by Werner and CRST.

Ask them to email you info - they have lots of written info that your recruiter should gladly email you. If not, call the number again and start over with a new recruiter. Don't feel tied to your first recruiter if he/she is not giving you the info you need.

From what I've seen, they do offer all that, but it's after 60 days of employment. We're looking at Swift also, but I wasn't as worried about those aspects, so I didn't ask. However, if it helps you out, I can certainly see what I can find out.

    Best of luck!

Look at all the different forums. Ive been reseaching all the different companies for over a year, I dont take this litely, And ive made a point to talk to, face to face to as many truck drivers as i could. The other three you mentioned are bad to from what in hear and read but swift was the worst. With that being said its gonna vary some because your gonna talk to and read different people and reviews.

So after a year's worth of research, what company do you find to be the best to start out with? I have yet to find any bad Swift reviews, that's why I was asking. I found plenty of bad CRST reviews which helped me avoid a bad decision there. And of course, all the bad reviews about CRE. But I haven't seen anything negative about Swift.

Sorry for the double post, I have bad internet and it does that sometimes. Cant ask for great internet in Afghanistan. I have been doing enough reading to know swift isnt the best option out there. I was thinking Roehl, or Schneider. Will you at least call a few other trucking outfits and see what they have to say?

Any insurance offered by any truck company will be real basic. Forget about 401k. And don't get sick away from home.
