Ok guys, another one for ya...where can I source a rebuild kit for the supply pump with spring for my 4mg 3406b?
Cat wants $285 and doesn't show a kit but they charge a core...would like to do it myself.

Transfer pump parts are still available individually through Cat. Doing it yourself, you can save a few bucks, but if your pump had a scored piston and sleeve, and you were paying someone to rebuild, you'd be better off, money wise, buying the OR 3008 reman.

Thanks for the info. Cat parts said no parts available, just a rebuilt. Piston looks good...

Here are the part #'s you need. QTY will be listed first. 1- 6j 2419 oring- 3-7e 2464 check valve-1-7w 0134 spring-1-3d 2824 oring-1-6f 6672 oring-1- 3d 2898 oring-1- 5p 2815 oring- 1- 7c 0396 spacer-1-8n 2637 washer, and if your local "CAT" dealer says they're not available, then order them from Whayne Supply in KY and INDIANA. I think maybe your local Cat dealer is either too lazy to look them up, or doesn't know how to. Seen that a whole lot in the last few years.

hanks for the part numbers, yes with this old rig they aren't sure of much on it...I got fed up and spent the big bucks for the reman pump. New filter, New pump, all new fuel lines and I still can't get 30psi of fuel pressure, any ideas?

Anything below 25 psi from the transfer pump, and above 125 degrees fuel temp, according to my training, was considered losing horsepower. Looks like you are above that, psi wise. The first thing I would look at, would be your gauge and related system. More than likely, you are running some type of snubber to keep your gauge alive. They get plugged up over a period of time and use. Which results in an inaccurate reading. However, anything between 30 and 40 psi from the transfer would give the old girl all the fuel she needs to darken the sun light out the mirrors. Then the electronic folks might say you need one of them non-smoking patches for her. All the while, you'll be legal in Cali for a few more years. Go figure?

Ok thanks, will check the gauge out, I believe it's electronic gauge with sending unit on top of pump. What about the return line from pump to tank, I noticed how small that hole is in the fitting. Seemed very small for the size of the pump and psi, even smaller than the ID of the return line...I was going to make it bigger but didn't know if it would drop fuel pressure some how.

Can pick up the pump on eBay for $125-150.fyi
