And that part of PA doesn't have many places to safely shut down a truck.

I'd be happy if someone burned the Windsor Locks,CT warehouse to the ground. I'd bring the paint thinner.

Aint that the truth. Hardly any at all. Its actually quite amazing the major chains havent set up around here. I mean all of berks county and lancaster are huge warehouse counties.

If you think about it, this area would be perfect for mom and pop chains to open up.

    bzinger and mjd4277 Thank this.

Sorry, but I'm only familiar with the transportation department, which is on top of the hill where the tractors are parked, by the shop. They're completely seperate from shipping and receiving, or the "Pit" as they call it, and the fleet drivers don't really ever have to deal with them, unless they are jockeying. Everything they do is done at the transportation building, from clocking in and out, choosing their runs, fueling, maintenance, etc. So what goes on down in the shipping and receiving department, I have no clue.

I'm also still confused on whether SuperValu has any type of operation or affiliation still going on in that building. As far as I know, everybody who works there are ACME employees, which is owned by Albertsons. So I have know idea why SuperValu's name is still on the building since ACME was sold to Albertsons, but I'll have to try to remember to ask my buddy that question next time I talk him, because I'm not sure if he even knows the answer to that.

    Probably a rebranding issue.
When i worked for republic services in 2013, we still had trucks with Allied and BFI on them. Republic bought allied in 2008, and BFI disbanded the company in 1999. We still had trucks with those old names though. EVEN my pay stub said i was being paid by BFI.... lol

It's my understanding that SuperValu still runs the distribution/logistics out of that whole facility. They also lease space in the warehouse to supply their own independent customers, that place isn't solely an Acme/Albertsons location. I'm thinking it's a complicated relationship, as you know I work for SuperValu in New Stanton and nobody really has been able to fully explain the situation to me. We run daily loads in there, I talked to one of their jockeys and even he couldn't offer anything that made sense.

All I know is I delivered a load to their warehouse when they were north of Reading years ago. It was a load of cereal that was outdated, they bought it on the cheap from a broker in Miami and slid it past their customers, knowing that no one would look at the codes.

@Sho Nuff im not even so sure Acme had a name on their buildings when they were in philly. I go to most of the old warehouses and the big one, the one one with inside docks, you would never know Acme ran out of there.
