I was wondering if anybody had any useful info on this oil Super S FG 2000 synthetic blend. It's says it meets Freightliner specs for oil do I gave it a shot, and at $10.50 a gallon I couldn't resist. The guy behind the counter said it compared to mystic blend, I was kinda sceptical. But anyways, I bought 3 pails and changed the oil on my 2010 cascadia.

Standard oil gives you standard protection and life expectancy of the oil. It's a natural product so it will break down faster and easier than synthetic blends or full synthetics. The blend will give you better wear protection can go into older engines and is a very moderate oil you can expect longer service intervals without risk of engine damage. Full synthetics are very nice very expensive but you can almost double the time between oil services it has excellent wear and thermal protection and is worth the extra money since you will need fewer oil changes over the life of the truck. By the way you got a great deal on that blend. Just make sure if it says use 15w-40 use it and some engines want delo or rotella so I would recommend sticking with what the OEM says to use because the different brands have different additive packages. Hope that helps.

Thing that is nice, is that all the oils today are pretty good. No real stinkers in the bunch. Some do go above and beyond the spec they are made for. Most all the oils not blended by the oil companies are blended by Warren Oil and meet specs they claim to meet. Like the Walmart Supertech brand oils or the Love's brand oil. Warren is the largest blender of 3rd party branded oils in the country.
It is correct that different brands will go about things differently to reach the same goal and have differing additive packages. Some just meet the need and some go beyond it. If the oil claims to meet the spec you need, and you follow OEM guidelines on when you are changing it, you should have no problem if the engine is in good shape. Run a used oil sample on it later and see how it is doing.
