These companies have no shame. They are so used to raping drivers and owner operators that they don't even think it is wrong anymore.

Let me add an update to this post. I left Sunco in April 2012 because we were losing money. I was averaging 1100 miles per week and $1.30 per mile. My refer fuel was costing $700 per month and my dead head was nearly 20 percent. Rarely did I have the next trip planned before delivery and many times wasted day and a half waiting for the next load. They expect you to haul orange juice for 50 cents per mile and you aren't allowed to book freight from a broker. Today I would not recommend this carrier to lease onto. Often you may also have to compete with company drivers from Landspan for freight.
Since leaving Sunco I went to flatbed and obtained my own authority. I much happier and more profitable and will not consider going back to temperature controlled again. -
They actual sold Land Span last August and have went from a percentage pay to mileage pay for lease purchase and owners operators
