out of Clarksville, IN. Does anyone havve any info concerning lanes they run, average legnth of haul, anything else that comes to mind. They claim they will run you 3000-3500 every 5 days ... I don't believe it. Oh it is possible, I just don't believe it is probable.
    Thanks for your answers, Charnock:colors:

Just wanted to let everyone know who has read drbky's message about Summitt Trucking.
A couple of facts regarding the message:
    1. Summitt isn't having money problems - they are selling off a lot of the 2003 trucks since they starting to have more maintenance issues. They are selling the reefer units since they are doing less reefer runs than they used to. This is only to help all of us folks who work here. Less time sitting with maintenance probs and not running reefer loads isn't a bad thing to me. Please talk to anyone working there to find out the scoop before assuming there are money problems.
    2. Staying out up to 10 days is still getting our folks home more often than most companies. Plus most of our folks are home every 5-7 days and yes, they are running up to 3,500 miles. I always thought that miles were a good thing. More miles, more money! If you aren't running at least 3,000 a week here at Summitt something is seriously wrong! Question for you drbky: Are you one of those folks that want to run?
Oh, I might want to mention that they are starting a slip seat division for folks who do not want to run more than 2,000 miles a week - talk to your DM if that is more your style.
    3. Yes, Summitt has a large portion of auto shift transmissions and one of the reasons why is because Dave wanted less fatigue for folks and thought they may like them. Believe it or not most folks that say they won't end up liking them better. I do not know who the higher ups are that you are referring to but if there is a maintenance problem and the shop doesn't fix it I would be talking to someone. Dave has paid to much money for these trucks to let them fall apart around you.

Just to finish up, yes, I work for Summitt Trucking. Been here over 2 yrs and this company is the most driver friendly company I have worked for. BUT you have to want to run miles. We start folks out at .40 cpm w/ additional money and increases so you have to earn your keep so to speak. Over 70% of all applicants are not approved to work here at Summitt because of that reason but that doesn't mean that some that are approved to be here should be here. And believe it or not we have a very low turnover so if someone isn't happy here I cannot necessarily say it is Summitt's fault.

I have been on the road for around 20 years and have worked for probably 7 or 8 company's. Summitt is one of if not the best company I have driven for,, the miles are here, if you like to get out there and run, its very seldom that I don't get 3000 miles a week. The man that owns this company will fire a dispatcher over a driver in a heart beat. However like most company's on the road, They are having money problems,, I don't think there's to many out there that isn't. They recently had all the driver's take a two cent per mile pay cut,, I wasn't happy about that , But on the other hand, I was glad to see that they are making the cuts to keep the company moving.. The office also took a cut.. If your looking for a good job, And you want to run some miles.. Give um a shout..

Do they still play roulette with their trailer tags? They used to only tag part of them and let the rest go without. The odds of getting caught were low so they took the chance...
