heat is a wonderful thing but have a fire ext. close by when the grease catches fire. not really to cut it off but the heat expanding and contracting will do amazing things. brake clevis pins are a great example. no real way to grip them to put enough torque to loosen them. heat the clevis and she will turn by hand. hope this helps. johnny

they use a tool like that looks just like tie rod remove tool it has tgwo jaws and a large screw in the middle. it is made just for this problem. most places that sell the slack adjusters will have this tool. or a chisel and hammer and a good aim. good luck!

lastgoodusername is right, your best bet is heat. Just keep some water near by. You'll beat yourself to death trying to pull it off without a torch.

I bought a trailer where the slacks were stuck on so bad i had to cut them off and put all new s cams on good luck your best bet is heat and a way to pull on it at the same time while hitting it also.

thanks I was wishin for an easy trick. I'll go fire up the hot wrench and try to shield the air bag. Think I will invest in a puller. Anyone tried the Tiger puller or the OTC?

Check if the s-cam bushings are worn, or if the cam is old chances are it is worn and junk anyway. If the wheel is ready for brakes you could pull off the wheel/hub, then cut the s cam somewhere in the middle to get it all apart and do a complete brake job.

lack Adjuster Puller from Snap-on pops them right off, in extreme cases apply heat.

i understood that it was the slack adjuster, just giving another good use for a hot wrench. seized bolts are another place where heat is extremely useful. johnny
