i can't say i ever heard of any such card.

you write up the truck, for what it needs. YOU DO NOT take that truck onto the road in the conditions you describe, with out the mechanic signing off on the repairs. once you take that truck, under any sort of threat, it's all on you.

it's best to find another job, with a clean accident free CDL than with a major wreck.

you would call the local DOT, that could be the state police. many have a truck division.

 

First, you should notify your company that you have equipment issues. Give them a chance to fix it. If they don't fix it then...

 

Definitely inform your immediate supervisor, and the safety department. If they're the same person, find another job.

I'm pretty sure you can get those "Stop Work Authority" cards from any U.S. Marshal......at least, that's what I heard.

 

Seriously just find another job, you rock the boat with cheap lazy owners and they will just replace you, so beat them to it.

 

If carrier refuses to fix the truck so you can drive, call the nearest trooper to come inspect your truck to see if your legal. A good trooper would not give the driver a ticket. Only the company should get a boot.

 

Do you really want an oos inspection on your record? Just find a new job.

 

What if he is away from home in the truck? Should he just drive home?

 

A Stop Work Authority card is part of an employer based safety program in various industries, according to a google search. It allows a worker to shut down a factory line for safety reasons, etc.

I have never heard of it being used in the trucking business.
