If I come across a dangerous situation with a truck, e.g. air brake line leaks, or tires have cuts and are less than 2/32" tread, or power steering fluid reservoir is leaking, etc... something that I feel is too dangerous for me to drive the truck, then I have the right to refuse to drive the truck until the company fixes the danger, right? What if I bring this to the attention of the company, and they refuse to fix it, and they want me to deliver the load anyway, or I will be fired? I heard someone mention "Stop Work Authority Card". Anyone heard of this? What would I do in this situation? Call OSHA?

You find a new job.
TripleSix, Woodys, LoneCowboy and 1 other person Thank this. -
you write up the truck, for what it needs. YOU DO NOT take that truck onto the road in the conditions you describe, with out the mechanic signing off on the repairs. once you take that truck, under any sort of threat, it's all on you.
it's best to find another job, with a clean accident free CDL than with a major wreck.
you would call the local DOT, that could be the state police. many have a truck division.Oldironfan Thanks this. -

Definitely inform your immediate supervisor, and the safety department. If they're the same person, find another job.
I'm pretty sure you can get those "Stop Work Authority" cards from any U.S. Marshal......at least, that's what I heard.bzinger, Snailexpress, buddyd157 and 1 other person Thank this. -
If carrier refuses to fix the truck so you can drive, call the nearest trooper to come inspect your truck to see if your legal. A good trooper would not give the driver a ticket. Only the company should get a boot.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
