Anyone have any info they can share about Stone Trucking? They have terminals in Tulsa, Ok Houston and Kilgore, Tx and serve the energy sector.

Only thing I can tell you is I see them pulling some pretty cool loads. I have wondered about them also.
-
I am a pilot car driver at Stone. What would you like to know???
-
I can tell you a few things about Stone. First off I am not a driver although I have worked around trucks my entire life I have worked in the office assisting drivers for the last 10 years. I have a passion for this industry that runs deep in my veins since my father and both grandfathers drove for their entire lives.
Never in my entire life have I ever seen drivers treated as poorly as they are at Stone Trucking. Screaming, disrespect, and flat out lying to a drivers face are common practices. They bring drivers in with the promise of big paychecks and in the interest of being truthful I must admit that most of their drivers do make a good living...but at what cost...
Drivers seldom get home, are consistently pushed to run illegally, are treated like ####, and charged for items that should be considered a companies expense to maintain their equipment. If you leave Stone for any reason forget about all the money they owe you because you will never see it; unfortunately since they hold back 3 weeks on average this will probably be a substantial amount of money.
I worked in the Safety department until the point I realized who they are and what they are about and that the owners have no desire to change and the safety department has no power to help the drivers. Once I realized this I could no longer stomach going to work every day and had to get away. I encourage anyone who is considering working for them to do a lot of homework on the people they will be hauling for. Look at their CSA scores, safety ratings and other driver reviews. If for some reason after seeing all of this the paycheck is still a bigger draw than all of the possible consequences to your livelihood...I wish you good luck.
This is not the same industry it was 20 or even 10 years ago and drivers should be concerned with how the carrier they work for will impact their own safety rating. When a companies shop fixes your bumper with bailing wire and duct tape is that really the company that you want to represent? When a company pushes you to drive back from the Canada line to Oklahoma in one night even though you've been up for 14 hours already just to make a few extra bucks, is it worth it? When a company has to lie during a DOT audit and cover up failed random drug screens and knowingly employees drivers that use drugs on a continuing basis is that the truck that you want on the highway with your family??
This company is the opposite of everything that a professional driver stands for and should be avoided like a plague. -
really surprised, theres a 4 axle KW I always see, beautiful truck , by my house and would of thought it was a good outfit from the trucks and the loads I see from them.
I dispatched at a Houston Flat bed company for about a month before I left for the same reasons you posted. Maybe Im not dispatch material anymore.
Thanks for the intel.Last edited: Apr 2, 2014

Macavoy, more often than not when you are inside the building you will be able to hear the lead dispatcher Kevin D. screaming and cussing at drivers while telling them what a piece of #### they are for not doing whatever impossible task he has set before them. If a driver is at all concerned with following the law or protecting their license they will quickly work that out of you or cut you lose and keep a few weeks worth of pay to really get their point across. There is a real loose definition of what the word legal means at Stone. They want you to make everything look legal, but you will routinely be asked to drive straight back to Kiefer after you deliver in the Dakota's or Canada, but don't worry they will let you sleep for a few hours while they put duct tape on your truck to fix some of the more major problems you've been trying to get fixed for weeks.
The nice looking trucks that someone mentioned above are most likely owner operators because the company equipment is junk that they band aid over and over again. For a company that makes a ridiculous amount of money on some very high dollar loads they put very little back into their equipment or driver incentives. They treat people like ####, not just drivers but anyone that hurts their ability to make money by trying to do silly things like be safe or follow the law. And if you ever leave them weather it be their doing or your own you can kiss whatever pay was owed to you goodbye.
There is a reason why that was my first post on that account and if you think about it I'm sure you can figure it out. I can also assure you that I've been an active contributor of this forum for many years. These posts are meant as a cautionary tail to anyone that looks at Stone and is hypnotized by all the $ signs. There are better places that you can make a good living at and that wont jeopardize your future.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 18, 2014
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
We appreciate active contributors but that doesn't put you above the forum rules.
You are allowed only one account. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...8-before-you-create-another-account-here.html
We have a hard enough time keeping up with the spammers and banned ex-members returning is one reason why. Another reason is we don't need extra fictitious accounts cluttering up the place of office people pretending to be drivers and drivers pretending to be office people, etc. You have a screen name for anonymity, it's up to you how you maintain privacy. There is no need for multiple accounts. The admins will gladly change screen names if someone finds a need.
You can PM me if you want to discuss it further or I can removed the extra account myself. Keep it between the lines and the shiny side up!bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
