Yea, that concerns me. I remember at one time they were illegal. That is why I asked. But I do believe one would help when backing.

Some years ago when I was young, and driving a garbage truck. I had a steering knob on the right side steering wheel of my truck.
While maneuvering through a cul de sac one day, an off duty State Patrol trooper who happened to live there. Explained to me that steering knobs were in fact illegal. That was 10 years ago, so I can't say for sure If that's the fact today.slow.rider Thanks this. -
By the way, I forgot to mention that was in WA. state!

funny how the law can ride around typing on their vehicle mounted laptop, (sometimes driving waay under the speed limit, but it is a hazard for anyone else LOL oh well, life goes on i reckon

Spinners? Kinda silly and a potential knuckle breaker IMO....

I fully respect your opinion, however. I just love the 'drivers' out there who drive, shift, and talk on the phone, with no earpiece or headset, shifting with the right hand, holding the phone with the left hand, and steering with their left elbow.bzinger Thanks this. -
I'm thinking the knobs are illegal everywhere because it is an obstruction to the wheel but they are useful

Map? OK....Cell call? Maybe in light traffic....
About spinners? Yeah, some drivers think they are "cool" (same kinda guys who have chains hangin' all over themselves, wear black only and need a bath!)but I say if you have need of a spinner to dock your trailer, you're doing too much oversteering and overcorrecting! Trash the spinner and get in some practice time backing a trailer in a parking lot or some such place....

Broke my left wrist, and couldn't drive my old pickup with armstrong steering without a suicide knob. I Kinda liked that thing, but everyone told me they weren't legal,so I got rid of it after the cast came off. The main thing I learned that was a safety hazard was that you could get your sleeve stuck on the knob, and possibly lose control if you weren't carefull.
