How did you go about finding a company that pays this well?

Most importantly, how do I land myself in a company that pays this well? What exactly do you do? What are the pros and cons of your company routine?

For that kind of paycheck I’d be willing to move out-of-state.

I have tanker endorsement and my co-driver has tanker + combo. I haven’t taken my combo yet but it’s a piece of cake.

Everybody has a different path to good pay. All I wanted to do was let you know what was a more reasonable expectation and that what you're being paid which is outdated by almost a decade. Pay has grown leaps and bounds lately for any company worth staying at. You'd probably make a better wage working local construction jobs and get better tight navigation and backing experience. Don't just focus on huge companies that advertise all over. Look at trucks near you, talk to other drivers at docks or truck stops.

Also it might be worth it to seek one of those Fed Ex contractors that hire teams.

You should also check Craigslist in Ft. Lauderdale. I’ve had good luck finding jobs on there. Or check where you’re willing to move to.
I did OTR out of companies that were a 7 hour drive from my home. Denver. Home provided lousy jobs. Did this for years. I’d drive 3 months. Then take 2 weeks off. They’d say I could take as much as I want off. Driving 3 months straight makes it easy for them. Have to admit, after 5 years, it was getting to me. But I found all this with small companies. Found them the best for me.
Heck… Danny Herman could do better for you than what you got. Surprised Swift cheating you like that. But first year is tough on everybody. Might need to complete the year to find better?
Don’t pay too much attention to mileage and benefits pay. My best job was only 56 cents a mile and no benefits. It was a no BS company. Great working there. Owner loved his drivers. I was bringing home $2k at least one week a month. Other weeks not bad either. That one week I’d do 4k miles. Only problem is he sold the company. Retired. Then the BS came in. I won’t bore you with the details.

Ive been meaning to find this thread and respond, you might look at Lake Trucking (stokes fish) out of leesburg, they specifically do fresh seafood team routes out of leesburg and have been around for quite a while.

Team drivers on a dedicated account that runs Florida, Georgia, and Alabama? It seems weird to have a team on an assignment that's really designed for a solo. If you really want to see the money, then you and your teammate need to do true team miles and run coast to coast. Doesn't FFE have a terminal in or near Miami? That's an option if they do.
