Taylor Express is a small trucking company out of Hope Mils, North Carolina. I worked for them for a brief stint and wish I never did. For starters, the company is owned by Celedon if that gives you any ideas.
The trucks they provide are pretty nice and well taken care of however that doesn't make or break a company. The problems I had with them involved sitting time. I was broken down for 24+ hours because Taylor Express couldn't authorize repairs to my truck and I was forced to wait until mid day the following day in order to get the 8 batteries replaced in my truck. This downtime was only paid as $100 layover pay and caused my load to be late which I was reamed for as well.
Other times, I would sit in Taylorville, Illinois at Ahlstrom Paper from Friday night until Monday because they don't know how to plan a load to insure their driver doesn't have to sit for the weekend. I have sat more days and lost more miles than I care to remember.
I can also recall many a time I would have 2 hours of drive time, 5 hours on a recap for one day, 6 on another and dispatch would force you out on a 14hr run knowing #### well the load will be late if you don't run illegal which I refuse to.
Pay was sub-par, I was receiving $0.38/mile with many years of driving experience. The only good thing I saw was how their pay was done.
@.38/mile, only .27.mile was taxable because they would do .11/mile as per diem which would be non-taxable.
Through and through, If you don't mind a $730 paycheck for 2 weeks worth of time, don't go there. Save yourself the hassle and pain and find a new place to dwell.
EDIT: One other thing I forgot to mention was the lack of dispatch or support of any kind on weekends. The day I quit, I picked up a load a purilator in fayetteville, drove down to dillon, sc and for the second time working there, the comdata card didn't work and nobody was there to fix it. I finally had enough and went right back to the yard and left their truck and load for them.
Stay Clear of Taylor Express

This company sounds like a freaking nightmare to me all the way around. You gave the perfect description of just about everything I hate in a "crap" company.
I hate forced Per-Diem.
I hate being paid every two weeks.
I hate "sitting" (anywhere but home) on weekends.
I hate running on recap.
I hate getting reamed for a late load because THEIR TRUCK broke down.
I hate when a company pittle farts around on necessary repairs, hoping to get it done free.
I hate Celadon.BigTime1980, TruckDriver87, EuropeanTrucker and 8 others Thank this. -

They do this cover there ##### if you end up getting unemployment...worjers comp...etc...they pay less and the government pays you less because you were willing to work for less.
Years of experience and you fell for this? HOW?
Pay at my company is lower than what I would like it to be, .41 per mile for me with 13+ years of experience. But my truck does 75 with the cruise and 77with the foot feed (most trucks are 70, mine will be soon enough). Equipment is well maintained. I usually do a 4week on and 7 day off schedule.
But still, .41 practical/ pc miler per mile and I write per diem off at the end of the year, meaning I get the per diem on top of that .41 per mile. Huge tax break. Now if my company paid per diem I should be paid .50 per mile of more if it is included. Most of our runs are 1200 miles or more, 99% of the time I do my restart either at home or at the yard, so I don't do too bad.
I am not saying I have it that great, I am just saying that what I have is really the low end of what the industry standard should be, for pay for people gone 5 or more nights a week. -

It was nice to see a well thought out and written complaint here on bad company. We appreciate you including good details. Seems that would be a given, but read some and you will see it is not. Thank you sir for a good contribution to the site.
Glad to see you seen the light. If it's Celadon it smells of con . Good luck to you. -
1. He was getting paid more than $.38 per mile
2. Loads cancel for every company
3. When you switch from 1 fuelcard provider to
At her there are always problems
4. If he would of opened his employee handbook and did some reading page 4 states the after hours number to call
5. If the driver is not on time that’s not our fault what happens on the back haul side
6. We fire people for running illegal and if the load is going to be late do to dispatch issues no one says a word to him
I am the recruiter and also a driver I been driving since 1994 this guy is typical of new drivers want to blame the company but can’t take personal responsibilityBbyford Thanks this. -
