Well I started with TLI hoping it would be my home. Got a great truck and had a few bumps starting out but thought I would give it a chance. Well 4 months later was having a lot of problems getting miles to pay the truck expenses and get a decent check. I tried talking to everyone from my dm up when I could get them on the phone. I was put on a couple different accounts that I hoped would work out but was being told things like they were closed when they weren't . Well after getting a 2nd negative check I had to go else where. I even tried to go company but was told I couldn't. I guess TLI cares more for their team drivers than solo. I took the truck back to their location and now after all is said and done they managed to do the figures to where they kept basically $3000 that I was told if I left what I had paid in would come back to me. I guess things like this is how they make money getting someone to make their truck payments and then keep all their money paid into maintenance and escrow also and give the driver lame excuses. STAY CLEAR OF TLI if you are a solo driver. They force you into a lease that you WILL get screwed.

They don't force you into anything. You chose to lease, which is starting a business, without running the numbers and having put back some for a rainy day. Of course you failed. If you try again make sure you can survive the slow season.
Also, for others this is also another lesson. If a company has both company drivers and lease, don't fall for their lies about leases getting the best run. When there are not enough runs for all the trucks, they are going to give the runs to the trucks they are paying for.

Every time I see a thread that starts with "stay away from..." or similar, I always look at the number of posts by the OP before reading.

    Yet another 1 hit wonder.

Not only that...but also, 9 times out of 10 they will be #####ing about some sort of Lease/Purchase failure.
What ever happened to 'Common Sense'?

I just want to ask out of curiosity what's so appealing about this lease purchase deals.

    Nothing.
What the salesman says though... The salesman throws out all these high numbers one can make (and maybe one team leasing a truck has made those numbers) and people fall for it without actually doing research and how likely they are to make those numbers.

I think part of it is the fancy truck they think they are going to drive off into the sunset with.

If I may share a short story, one of the drivers who came to work for the company I currently work for was having issues with his truck. Trucks were changed and nothing would keep him happy he complaint either way. Til one day I saw him at the customer and told me he was quitting on the spot.futhermore he stated celadon had just offer him the lease purchase deal, I asked him how long has he been driving he stated only 5 weeks and his famous words is I'm going to celadon to make 10000 a year.... heck I'm not a veteran in this field but I knew better to stay away from deals like that.
