Stay away from MBM. They are one the worst companies I've ever worked for.

Amen brothers ! Former mbm cordele, ga for 18 months. Mbm runs paper logs.....you kow what that means. Food is time critical ! You broke down from bs piss poor equipment.....geee whiz.....you still have to deliver the loads! Does'nt matter if it is a 20 hour day ! The restaurants need their stuff!.
Reefers suck, do not maintain temps, i had 2 capt d's refuse the entire freezer because it had completely thawed out!....id love to see the health dept have jurisdiction over these ##########! They would be shut down in a heartbeat ! Dispatch is a clown ! Transportation mgr is a racist pig. My beautiful wife is black and we have gorgeous mocha children ! When they would pick me up in afternoon those inbred jerks would be visably upset and stare....i was even asked if they were "my people".....like i "owned" them.....omg!!!
Mbm is the #1 overweight violater in ga ! I was told that @ the scales. The computer is set to "autofill" and most dot know their dot # by heart !!! You are costantly overloaded then threatened to have the fines taken out of your pay so you feel obligated to run around on "skinny" roads to avoid them ! July 2013 was the end for me. Was running around scale again @ 0430 just s of i20 when some idiot came flying around the sharp curve on a hill and crossed the center line cutting the corner making a left turn. All i could do was react and swerve to avoid the headon. My right trailer tires fishtailed into the deep drainage ditch and pulled me in and laid me over as the driver continued on their merry way leaving the scene. When i called it in their first response was not are you ok? Do you need help? It was take lots of photos to cover their ##### and can you drive the truck ?.....again....omg!!! I went on temp suspension pending investigation. I had no citation. It was not dot reportable. They kept dragging it out for 5 weeks and would not clear me or dispatch so i finally had to quit when i found my current job. When i told them after i had the job. They said they were "firing" me because i violated company policies so they could screw me out of vacation time i had on the books !......do not ! Do not ! Do not ! Even think of working for these class a royal ########## and racist pigs ! You will be very sorry you did

I worked in foodservice NOT as a driver for 20 years so THAT was NOT a problem. I loved ALL my customers on both of my routes in FL, GA, and SC. Super nice people, would always take me early because once I got used to the locations and such I ALWAYS ran early. They are the ONLY part I miss about driving for those MBM jerks. I hope Mclane puts the hammer down on these guys and forces them to run ELOGS so they cant abuse their drivers HOS anymore!
    Anybody considering MBM.

    1. You WILL bust your ##### ALL DAY. EVERYDAY you're out to make VERY TIGHT schedules and be TOTALLY at the mercy and speed of the restaurants personnel in getting you unloaded, most have cut their staff to the bone and they will have 1 guy to unload 200 case orders !.....most are good....some are NOT.
    2. You WILL get to know the DOT people at your local weigh stations VERY WELL. You're overloaded ALOT.
    3. Get familar with the "skinny roads" AROUND those scales....you will NEED them.
    4. Dispatch times are BS ! Get used to starting at least 1 hour earlier....OFF THE BOOKS....or you WILL be late to your 1st stop and play catch up from there.
    5. Get used to pulling into or out of TIGHT ##### places where people don't care about you trying to get in/out of there
and wont cut you ANY slack !
    6. Get used to the idea that the warehouse could care less about how they throw the stuff on there and NOT secure it because it WILL happen and if a skid falls and they WILL fall.....it is ALWAYS the drivers fault !
    7. Get used to nasty, funky, beat up trucks( they do slip seating ) trailers with tandems that wont slide, crappy seals and wont hold temps!
    8. Plug in ALL your applicable RYDER, TK, and trailer repair sites along your routes or backhauls to your GPS....you WILL NEED THEM !
    9. You WILL do backhauls and they DONT care how long you have to sit there waiting for them ! Some are good, most are NOT.

If you can deal with all that and obnoxious dispatch and trasportation mgrs. ( the ones in the Macon, GA DC are probably the rare exception to that and are good people ! The ones in the Cordele, GA DC are NOT !) Then MBM will probably work out for you. Either way good luck to you and be safe. I'm in a much better place now and happy.

That guy was probably blowing smoke up your "you know what". Top earner @ dc i was @ was @ 87k.....but......never went home ! Slept @ dc in truck....in and out! You dont get paid miles on backhauls!!!! I would routinely have to stay out an extra day and bring a load of frozen seafood up from tampa all the way to cordele for a lousy $30!!!! And you cant refuse a backhaul....you're screwed! Its up to you buddy....but 55k to 65k is more realistic.....not too bad....but a far cry from 100k and yes you do work you're butt off for that ! Good luck !

Guess I am not a real man. But I am okay with that. I would rather hook up one or two hoses and let my product come off by itself :yes2557:

And nobody holds my hand :biggrin_25522:

    Just saying!

Food and produce loads are different, you or the company literally "own" the freight until the consignee takes possession of it by signing off, "bumping the dock" is not completed delivery and still that way.

Ever bought dirt cheap food at the truck stop from someone? Probably a driver who was shafted with a declined load, and needs to recoup the cost. Lumpers are just intermediaries to unload trucks, usually for grocery docks, and have no claim to the load - they provide a service to drivers, and normally not paid at all from receivers.

In earlier times, and before spacious sleepers - a driver would bring a helper to do this.

Have heard flatbed can be worse, I myself would not choose either for crappy pay.

Milkman, i'm sure the Mclane driver was being honest with you. I work for them and I will make right at $93K this year. I did work 5 days a week up until Oct., and now working 3 1/2. This type of work isn't for everybody, but if you're in decent shape and somewhat athletic, it's really not as bad as some make it out to be. I should clarify that I am on the grocery side.
