Worked here for about 6 months. This place will think of every way poss to take your money. They claim youll make 64 cpm then you get tgere you find out that its actually 60 cpm. Then once your rolling ypu find out its actully 52 cpm and 8 cents is contingent on whether or not you save fuel, and dont get a safety issue. What they do is, they give you the 60 cpm until a few months in and settled in a routine. Then Safety calls you about a camera issue( always seems to be a cam issue ) the safety guy will tell you we got you following to close pr you were in tge left lane to long...then you get that message on the OBC telling you " you didnt earn your safety bonus" once they take your safety bonus its gone until they determine when to give it back. Now your working for 57 cpm. I talked to other drivers , so this isnt something Im pulling out of the sky...they do it. They are under new ownership and the drivers are at the bottom of the list on how they value employees.
Another thing is they tell you at orientation we dont monitor your facing camera just cover it whole your parked. Then when you do...they give you a safety issue because if you cover their cams it automatically will begin recording. So the issues with this company is deep I suspect they will either sell the company or itll go dow. Drivers were leaving left and right when I was there.
How they got rid of me was this I came home? I was only making 57 cents by this time. They didn't really give me any real reason why they just said safety. Okay. So I get in the truck and prepping my truck inspection, getting ready to leave, and I get the job on my computer. The entire job was taken 2 days and it was 70 miles and they wanted me to do this over a 2 day period that was the first alarm that went off in my head. Then I want to try to Start the truck and it wouldn't turn over it. Wouldn't do anything so I called in? And I'm like the truck's not starting after several attempts. You know, looking at the truck seeing what I could do I figured it was a battery issue and they're very strict about you doing anything mechanical. Even something like charging the battery, replacing a battery or something you got a call. So I did, and they said, no, don't do anything.I had offered to have my landlord.Come up air and give us a hot shot. He's an actual diesel mechanic. They said no, no. No, we'll send somebody out there. Well, we know how that goes. You sit, and you wait for a phone, call. They'll tell you they're on the way blah blah blah. I sat there for 10 hours, waiting on a call, waiting on someone to come or a message. Anything... none ever came or called? I tried to call the office, no answer. Try to send them OBC messages. No answer. So I told him you know what when you get everything together. You let me know I'm out of here. I went home went back to the truck first thing in the morning. Nothing had changed. They had another job on the car computer. I told them I can't take anything. The truck won't start. Try it again. Truck's not starting called roadside and roadside said "You're getting a message to your transmission" ( one of the ways they can shut your truck down remotely is by a switch in the transmission that doesn't allow the truck to engage, like it's in first gear or drive)
So this went on for 2 days nobody came out. I told him I was finished. Come get your truck. They never said anything to me. They left that truck sat there for 10 days and I told him, "Hey, look, I pay for that space that it's in at the truck parking place. You need to get it out of there or do something"... Make arrangements. They finally got it out of there and that was how I parted ways with Bay and Bay....easily theee worst company I have ever worked for. Ive drove for 2 other companies and I can say me leaving them was agreeable for both of parties.
If you do go to bambay while you're at orientation, you will get a paper to sign that says, if you quit their company before 120 days or a 180 days, something like that. You will owe them like more than $4,000 dollars.
So if you go to bam baby, very careful with these people, they cater to anyone that lives in the area of Minnesota, like Egan and same goes for down in Texas at their other depot. They cater to people that live in the area. I've seen a lot of over the road. Drivers that were home every week. An egan or denton, texas, and that's just very unusual to see over the road drivers at the terminal every week and was all 42 days like every week. I don't know what your political affiliation, is, it? Shouldn't matter, but at Bay and Bay, it does matter if you're conservative. If you're not completely woke,on the left....stay away from Bay and Bay. I believe that this was the reason they actually got rid of me. You can be friends with the Bay and Bay company on facebook, which I was, and they get a chance to see all your political stuff and all that, and that could be the only reason why I was given such a hard time there. All I can say is....you will see.
Stay away from Bay & Bay out of Minn.

Sorry but if a company has driver facing cameras that should tell you all you need to know about what kind of place they are. As a professional, I would be offended they feel it's ok to jam a camera in my face. It shows they don't trust me.
Don't even get me started on the privacy issues. That truck is your bedroom, living room, (maybe even a bathroom) and office. Tell them to remove their window blinds and see how they like it.TruckDriver87, Gearjammin' Penguin, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. -
Problem with cameras is they don't show all the context, which is why taking pay for them is silly unless it's egregious or consistent. One following distance from a car passing and immediately slowing down 10mph doesn't represent the other 12,000 miles that month where the truck driver was operating flawlessly.
Cameras should be used for coaching, not to reduce driver pay. I bet payroll doesn't get their pay deducted when they forget someone's reimbursement. I bet safety managers don't get their pay deducted when they forget to send back an inspection report. I bet dispatchers don't get pay deducted.
Cameras should only result in loss of safety bonus if a driver is *consistently* having issues. And even then, it should be a fixed amount loss and not til they feel like giving the bonus again.TruckDriver87, Gearjammin' Penguin, bzinger and 3 others Thank this. -
Whenever a company advertises that the pay can be " up to" a certain cpm, that is a red flag. What you need to know is what your base rate of pay is going to be without bonuses, or any other extra's. If they cannot or will not tell you what your rate of pay will be before you fill out an application, or they tell you that they will inform you at the orientation, you should decline to go any further in the recruiting process.

To me, if I see anything like OTR, CPM, potential, bonus or recruiter, it's a red flag. I don't know how you folks continue to work like this?

I close friend of mine drove for them years ago. Before he left the company his job was to fly around the country and bring abandoned trucks back to Minnesota. He stayed quite busy doing that. That should pretty much tell you all you need to know.
