do you know what the fixed costs of the truck lease or purchase ?

insurance costs ?

fuel costs ?

Drivers salary?
Benefits?
Workers comp ?

how many trucks do
You need ?

Do you need a spare truck so when one breaks down you can still move the trailers ?

Extra drivers so when one gets sick or doesn’t show up , you can still get the trailers moved ?

what do the other spotter companies charge ?

 

The spotter tractors are very expensive. Most companies have more than 1. They can use the employee to do other jobs when not needed for switching trailers. Nice idea, buy do not think it has traction to be successful.

 

Good way to go broke fast.

 

Since you’re here asking about the business, obviously, you don’t know the business. You’re already set up to fail, because of that. You need to get immersed in the business, in some manner. Learn the business, then, think about giving it a go, as an owner.

 

If he doesn't have any experience he'll be learning on the job. As in backing 50 or 60 trailers a night in and out of tight spots.
Not the kind of place I'd want to leave a trailer.
