The front spring on the side closer to the rear hanger on my fld120 there's a band clamp that is broken.

Compared to the other side it does look like the spring shifted out a little bit, the leaf on the bottom.

How important is this and how do I go about fixing it?

Not sure which spring your talking about but I’ve seen guys use a worm clamp to center leaf springs in a pinch.

I'm having a problem loading photos tonight I'll try again.

I reworded the post above to try to make it a little more clear without the photo.

No worries. Schedule ASAP, but no need to reroute. You can replace tie bolt, but by that time you're ready for springs, hangers, alignment.

I would replace the spring and rear hanger.

Edit: if I have to replace a steer spring, I try to replace both.

It's a clamp. You can't just reclamp that?

All the band holds is the 2 halves together for shipping. Look at it. Not very strong. The fact that they're shifted a bit isn’t a big deal. Very common. Because they’re so long. Same reason it rides so good. Lol. As long as the U bolts are tight. Might have a pin broken off the spring, or the block on top. If it’s bothering you, you can take U bolts off, inspect Spring, and spacer blocks, for rusted Pins/Tits, or nubs, whatever they’re called. Be prepared to weld a new tit/nub onto the spring, and grind it to fit the alignment hole in the spacer block. Or be ready to buy a new spring. In reality they don’t really do anything. Just break, sometimes just from a tight turn, sometimes bad hanger bushings, sometimes loose Ubolts. Other common fix is to tack a weld on top of spring on outside of spacer block Keeps them from moving. Mostly let’s you monitor it for movement. Personally I’d try to torque the Ubolts. If they tighten up, check them in a few weeks. If they’re loose again, replace them. One time use stretch bolts, once they’ve been loose, almost never stay tight again. Inspect the alignment Tits/nubs while you’re at it. I’m sure you’ve already done hanger/ shackle bushings. Repair spring/ spacer block as needed. Blocks not expensive, springs aren’t too bad either. But if it’s sitting level, why bother. Michigan Spring is the place to get them if needed. If they’re not loose, don’t worry about it. Mine have been that way for years. I’ve thought of a heavy duty clamp in its place. But I think since they’re meant to move, it’s not a good idea. Might even snap the spring?
