I'm thinking which way to go down to Nevada. Haven't been to Nevada from Klamath falls OR so not sure how truck friendly that highway is.

It's all truck friendly and a very easy run. Get on 139 out of Klamath Falls, then a left on 299 at Canby to Alturas, then 395 all the way to Reno. You can also take the Boise to Winnemucca to Reno route, but it's not really any faster.

Like @SteveScott said, 139, 299, and 395 is your best route.
Just watch out for cattle on the roadway at night. A lot of that country is open range and if you hit a cow you not only have truck damage, you just bought yourself a cow. Open range areas are supposed to posted but they often aren't. -

Figure on at least
five or six hundred dollars. Plus your repair bill of course.alds Thanks this. -
Could also take 31 across out of LaPine and hit 395 north of Lakeview. But I’m weird like that and enjoyed the no traffic when you get out around Christmas Valley.

US 395 direct from Spokane-Reno.

Edit: route map no shows no limit on that stretch for 48ft trailers. Anything over 48ft is still limited to 65ft overall without a permit.Last edited: Sep 6, 2020

That 395 down to Reno gets real windy sometimes, when you see a bull hauler with his flashers on,you know it's bad.
