Truck is running fine, and there is no engine light on. I can see some SPN fault codes become active and eventually clear up on their own on my telematics provider, but like I said the truck runs fine and there is no engine light on right now... is this a normal thing? is the truck ok as long as it runs fine without any engine light coming on? or should I take it to the dealership asap?

    Thank you

Intermittent issues are some of the toughest to find. Wait until the fault is active and your truck is broken to take it in for diagnostic. Much better chance at locating the issue.

Also share your specific truck information and fault codes logged so we can point you in the right direction.

If you in the shop, get printouts of inactive faults to share.

    Hey Goodysnap,

The truck is a 23 Freightliner Cascadia. I'm using the gomotive telematics to get all this info. At present, there are no active fault codes, but I've attached a fault code report that shows all the ones that have status "Closed" (the one that shows "Open" is not active anymore right now)

Is this common for a brand new truck? Do I have any legal recourse here if I got a lemon?

Really appreciate the reply and pointing me in the right direction here.

You can check each one of those with a Google search.
For instance the first code on the list, SPN 520289 FMI 4, indicates a short in your mirror heater.

I checked all of them, but some of them are hard to interpret... as in, when do you know if it's a serious enough issue to take the truck to the dealership? and all these pop up, but the truck runs fine, is it safe to keep running the truck? Is it normal for a brand new semi truck to have all these?

I don’t trust ELDs for fault readouts. If the truck is not broken don’t try to fix it.

In post 1 you state that there is no engine light on. If you truly had a problem the engine light would be on and so would other dash indicators. Like Goodysnap said: "I don't trust ELD's for fault readouts". You should not trust these either. If you are really concerned about it I would have someone hook up a scan tool or laptop and see what the ECM is reading, not the ELD. There was a recent thread on here about the ELD in a Freighliner. They have to be hooked up correctly per Freightliner. Who installed the ELD? That is where your problem is. You can go to the dealer but they probably won't spend anytime on something installed after the sale, especially not as a warranty repair.

Stoops Freightliner in Indy installed the Qualcomm in my 2016 Cascadia you could check with them if you're in the area.

It's the truck's version of "is it appendicitis or just gas?".

If thr code clears, don't worry.

If it keeps popping up ask a question of your friendly neighborhood mechanic.

If the codes stick around through 3 ignition cycles, then I start worrying.
