i got a ticket yesterday on my way home doing 46mph in a 30. I knew the sign was in that general area but didn’t see it. I saw the car next to me slow down so I thought followed suit and started slowing down from 50 and somewhere in there the cop clocked me. On top of this, my insurance card went through the wash a few weeks ago, and my inspection sticker ran up last month (car goes in the shop this week). The cop did not write me up for these two things which I’m VERY grateful for.

I’m wondering how this works? I emailed an attorney in my area tonight so hopefully I can get that ball rolling. Is this a waste of time/money where the cop already let me off with just the speeding? Could he bring those charges up even if they aren’t on the ticket? Also I have one other speeding ticket from 2.5 years ago, before I got my cdl.

Hire a traffic attorney from the area you got popped in. Let him know your a truck driver and this ticket could affect your job. Let him go to traffic court on your behalf. He should be able to get it reduced or dismissed.

The cop cant add tickets after the fact. And chances are he will not remember you after he wakes up tomorrow. Sometimes the cops dont even show up to court.

15 mph & over can be a job killer. Tell the lawyer to get it reduced to under 15 mph over.
Might get it dismissed if the police officer doesn't show up.

Was your other speeding tic. another over 15mph over also. The only one who can reduce your tic. is the law off. that gave it to you, you may have to call Roadlaw.

Drive every vehicle as if it's a cmv once you become a professional driver!or risk your career.craziest thing I've done was pull into an open weigh station in my pickup truck after being on the rd for six weeks. I didn't cross the scales though. Just waved and got back on.some habits are hard to break.

If you know that the sign is there, then where is the excuse?

    Slow down.

Yup it’s a job killer. Get it reduced or plan on staying at your job for min 3 years. You can change jobs but the GOOD jobs won’t look at you and you’ll have slimmer pickings at others.

Thanks for the replies. I’m not trying to make excuses, I know I was in the wrong regardless of if I saw the sign or not. Hopefully I hear back from the attorney first thing this week. My other ticket was over 15 over also if I remember correctly but again that was before I had a cdl.

    What is roadlaw baha?

I shouldn’t tell my company until after Court, correct? I have to check what the company policy is when I get to my truck on Monday and can look at the employee handbook. But by law it’s 30 days after conviction? Or issuance?

Most companies require one to report a citation as soon as it's issued. But on Monday do yourself a favor. Call the clerk of court and ask them are they a court of record. If the reply is yes, then you need council. If the reply is no then pay the ticket and you don't have anything to worry about.
