I like speedco, they do on site oil analysis, have baldwin and cat filters, have Rotella T and delo and Mobil instead of just Mobil and fleet guard (T/A - Petro).
Also other little things like, torquing all your plugs and drains in front of you. The price is virtually the same. My non synth oil change at speedco was 249.99mountaingote and JLT Thank this. -
If I have to get an oil change done on the road I prefer Speedco, less wait time and you can be in there talking to and watching them service your truck.
KB3MMX, pusherman, Straight Stacks and 5 others Thank this. -
I vote speedco. But I'm a little biased as I worked at one in my younger days.
Here's what I can recall ~
They're not the greatest, now they do their hiring through temp agencies, management is a joke but they do a pretty fair job of customer service.
Those torque wrenches are the cheapest junk you can find. The fuel they fill your filters with is what they drained from other trucks and then filtered. Their tires are way overpriced.
The tire air machines aren't calibrated right. The wheel torque machines are a joke. We had a 100gal water tank we would fill with tap water and drop in a few 1000 flushes tablets, that was washer fluid.
However, they're still better than TAblairandgretchen Thanks this. -
TA and petro have caused me so many problems. I always figured it was the "mechanics"... But nope I'm every shop I ever been. they certainly lost my business. I avoid stopping at their locations all together as much as I can.
Speedco, so far has been pretty good for what they do. I perfer to change oil at home at my mechanics but if I get stuck on the road I'll use speedco -
Speedco, a little cheaper, always faster, and I think they do a little better job.

I do my pm service with ,TA I know the Shop and so far no Troubles
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Speedco. They seem to get us back on the road faster than T/A for some reason.

I went to that TA in Baytown to get a PM. 6 hours later, I go to see what's taking so long, and they're charging my batteries. I ask the kid what's wrong and he says he couldn't get the truck to start and he ran down the batteries. I ask if he put diesel or anything in the fuel filters and he said no because he didn't have any diesel. Idiot. "Time to walk to the desk and tell whatever manager that's on duty that they are an idiot too."
A TA shop is the absolute last resort. The small independents are worlds better. Speedco is better. The only good thing about the TA is that I will have someone from corporate call me after I leave a survey. I hope one day that Homer Hogg calls me. And I will tell him that I always recommend any driver that has another make than Freightliner to take his rig somewheres else and save his baby from the Neanderthals.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I generally us TA/Petro. My company gets a fleet discount there for PMs. I haven't had any problems with them other than their sometimes ridiculous wait times.
