Was recently talking to a few company drivers at challenger and was shocked at how many were bypassing the 105 Ontario speed limits. Apparently they use this thing called "The BullyDog Heavy Duty WatchDog". Some of the trucks are governed at 97KMH and you got guys turning it up to 105-110. I thought it was Impossible to bypass speed limiters without hooking up a big ### laptop to the truck and changing it.
Surprised any company driver especially for challenger would take a chance at this. Apparently many owner operators use it too.
Have any of you owner operators ever heard of this?
Speed limiter bypass?

Yes. That BullyDog model has that capability.
Technically it’s perfectly legal to do, once you leave the province.
When they first came out with that law, there was talk of the ability to install a switch so you could bypass it once you were out of the province. But I’ve never seen such a device.
I have the Detroit Software for my truck, so I’m able to set mine if I had to. But I would have to do it parked to plug in the laptop.
I don’t know if the BullyDog can do it on the fly. -
Bully dog will not do it on the fly. Engine off key on is how it does it.
If they were my trucks and my liability... that'd earn you a stern talking to for sure... while at the same time, I understand extra speed is sometimes necessary and if appropriately used then I agree the driver should have the tools at hand if needed. Don't abuse it type deal. But don't do it without asking me first. Hell for the responsible driver I'd just set up driver rewards so ecm doesn't have to be switched all the time. I would expect challenger or other big companies who satellite track will catch on and driver will just be terminated. They won't want to hear it.bzinger and Canadianhauler21 Thank this. -
I have one, used it in my trucks when I ran Ontario. Got a talking to a few times, then I switched to an out of province carrier and the games changed.
Had to park to get it to work, but it only took a min or two, plus the benefit of ECM readouts on the fly, I knew everything the ECM was reading, as well as being able to diagnose engine codes. The SPN codes are really vague but there is another set the Bully Dog reads, and if you can get that code list you can get really specific.
I used to be able to tell the mechanic what sensor was bad before he knew it. Lol he could never figure out how.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
I don't care what you do personaly but having ''anything'' in the truck that can alter the speed limiter is illegal. But yeah the bullydog can set the speed limiter setting up to the factory limit. Also cruise limit and idle time.
I know where there is a used 1 -
