Hey everyone,
So I am on my second Cobra 29 WX NW ST (I think it was called the Nightwatcher or something like that from what I remember). The first one's speaker blew in probably less then a month, maybe 2 and I just exchanged it. This one went for a good year or 2, but I turned it on the other day and couldnt hear a thing. Tried the weather feature and everything to make sure but its definitely not working.
Funny thing is same thing happened to the speaker/ringer (not ear piece) on my cell phone as well over the last day or two haha. Maybe its telling me a talk too much and dont listen enough and have no need for a speaker. Either that or I listen to things too loudly *shrugs*
Is this common with this radio? Any simple fix, maybe its not actually a blown speaker but something else? I assume I am going to have to try to buy another and then return this one in its package at this point but I figured it was worth a shot asking.
Thanks!! Kerri

I always use an external speaker.

You can still use an external speaker. I have one that's about 2" x 2" and will blast you out of that RC car.

FriedTater and kerker86 Thank this.

I've got a Cobra 29ltd, and a Cobra 29nwst, and have not had any problems with the speakers. Use one in my personal vehicle, and the other in big truck. Have switched them out on occasion to break the boredom. The 29nwst was bought new in 2001. The 29ltd was bought long before that. Have not had either one 'repaired', but have had both of them bumped for better performance.
Usually, in the big truck, I use an external speaker. External speakers come in a variety of sizes, I have a 4 inch by 4 inch, and a 2 inch by 2 inch. They both work good.
Pretty odd for all of your speakers to cut out. -

I would just change out the speaker. *shrug* I guess you could even go as far as gutting an external and installing it into the radio chassis if you wanted to, shouldn't be difficult at all.

I just bought this talk back speaker but I read somewhere that target or Walmart has them cheaper.
It has a volume knob and an on and off switch.
Just any speaker won't sound good.
Like on a home speaker system there is a speaker just for voices and thats what this speaker is. -
