Wondering what the other guys with older trucks have done to quiet the interior down? I have been looking at several different brands such as Dynamat and so on. This stuff is very expensive and I am wondering if its worth the money or if theres other products out there that are cheaper. Looking to completely gut the interior of cab and sleeper and reline it all.

I never used it in a big truck but Dynamat works really well, yes it is a little pricey..I bought it in a bulk box from Summit Racing when I passed thru Ohio to save on shipping because the stuff is quite heavy..

Your local car stereo shop or even Crutchfield might know of something cheaper that works as well...

In my '95 International with a box slrrper, I put two layers if 3/4" foam board in the sleeper walls and roof, and inside the side box doors. The noise inside whild riding the sleeper was cut by more than half, plus you could breath heave and keep the sleeper warm, and it cooled just as easy.

In the front I put jute carpet padding on the floor and new carpet over that. I took off the engine cover inside and insulated that, insulated under the hood, )you will be suprised how much engine noise that takes away), and stuffed unbacked house insulation in any hole I could find. I never did get around to insulating behind the door panels, but what I did made a huge difference in sound inside the truck.

Thanks for the info. I saw the foam board at home depot and thought it may work ok in the sleeper since the walls are pretty square. Wondering if using 2 layers in better then buying the one inch stuff? Seems like it would be since you get both layers of protection. I think I will get dyna mat for my cab and doors then do something a little cheaper under the hood.

The reason I used the size foam board I did was because I loaded at a place that made the stuff. They had a pile of damaged board, and gave me all I wanted. The International was a flat top sleeper with an air shield, so I strapped down all that would fit on the roof, under the shield.

I did my entire F-350 Superduty in B-Quiet Extreme. To be totally honest, it made a difference, but not nearly as much as I had hopped for. Although my speakers/subs cant rattle the sheet metal any more, its dead quiet now, that part is way nice and worked as advertised. I just wanted less road noise than what I got.

This isn't my truck, but the photos in this link are identical to what my truck looked like when I was done. http://www.b-quiet.com/f350.html I probably put more in than what those guys did. Doubling most areas and triple in some too.

The only thing I didnt do was the head liner. Just need to get around to doing it. Personally, if I was to do it again I would go with the thicker foam stuff.

I have heard the asphalt based stuff can stink bad in the summer. Personally I haven't experienced that myself, and its been hotter n hell round here this summer.
