has anyone worked with one, had one installed, or knows someone that has one? Or does anyone know of any alternative solar powered APUs?
I've been trying to get a hold of this guy for a while now, and I can not for the life of me, get in touch with him.
I like the idea of a solar/wind turbine APU; it's bloody brilliant, but I can't get in touch with him and I don't know of any other solar APUs.
Anyone have any experience or information that they can share?
Thanks!

Something I am working towards....
This is interesting.
There is a company called Wind Blue power too.
www.windbluepower.com
Couple that with four big truck batteries and charging it for 11 hours while driving and a good 4,000 w household inverter.
I think you could make something that would cradle behind the cab rather easily. -
Now that's an interesting project! I don't think I care to get quite that involved though. Although I do need to find a way to save money, idling the truck is killing my wallet (and putting wear on the engine, as was your main concern)
I may end up just buying solar panels myself, and a wind generator as well. I'm an expedite driver, so I don't drive as much, so I need a way for batteries to be charged while I'm sitting (hence solar/wind power). I could use a traditional APU, but I want to use zero fuel if at all possible.
Couple that with either hybrid truck engine, or propane injection system (another thread I started) or both if they work together well, and I could be pushing 15 mpg average if I'm very lucky. (I already get 11.7, it's down to 9.3 now but that's because it gives me my MPG based on how many miles the truck has traveled divided by the gallons of fuel used, so as I sit and idle, my MPG goes down drastically) I actually like that better though because it gives me a a TRUE average MPG including IDLE time.
