    Hello Everyone,

In doing my research about different companies and the lifestyle in general I have found a lot of useful information on various forms of social media (youtube, facebook, etc....). I was just curious if any of the companies out there have any type of stringent social media policies in place to keep drivers from posting videos or blogging or whatever?

Thanks for all the great input from everyone on this forum.

Mine does. We're not allowed to even mention our company or customers in a post that is negative or positive.

I can give facts, still I'd rather not. When the blame-game begins I can at least point to an observant pattern of restraint.

I really don't disagree with their social media policy so far.

I can see the more anal, micromanaging companies doing it. My company only objects to negative posts on their Facebook wall so most of the drivers unliked it and unfriended the snitches in the office.
On my Facebook profile I deleted the company I'm leased to and listed "self employed itinerant horsethief" as my employer and occupation...no link to the company so stay off my a zz...my friends know what I do and who I do it for.

As a general rule, it is best to keep ANY info about where you work off of your social media profiles like FB or whatever - and that's for ANY job you have not just trucking. It's great to post your experiences but you have to keep it anonymous as far as revealing your true identity.

Yep. I remember lots of stories I've seen on the news about that, like the waitress that got fired from her job for complaining about a bad tip on her fb page. There are too many stories about people getting fired for facebook to mention here. I never post ANYTHING about work on FB, don't even have it listed on there where I work, which is what everybody should do imho.

My company's policy was NO Comment. I hauled gasoline and when there's a problem around you a lot of times you'll find a microphone stuck in your face. I know this is different that Facebook and such but the end results can be the same. Here's an example that really happened at my company. There's was a large spill at a gasoline station. After it was safe the news media was all over the place trying to get a story. The driver was very proud to work for a company that took an active role in the community. So when it came time for his turn with the microphone he blurted out without hesitation " don't worry my company will pay for everything".

There is a possibility the driver was "let go" from the company. The driver put himself or herself in a tough situation, along with putting the trucking company in a tough situation.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Though there is a lot of computer and information technology all over the place, it is best to keep one's private life private, along with keeping many private thoughts to one's self. In this day and age, there are still quite a number of "low profile" people.

Both sadly and ironically, many career criminals are masters of keeping a "low profile", until they finally get caught, which can often take many years.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

One dumb waitress at the TA in Baytown had a driver show up at her house with love in his eyes. He found her address off FB.

You know, I wonder what the old west gun fighters would think about social medias.

"Yep, Frank and I are just riding into town. Gonna check into the hotel and rob the bank tomorrow. It will be the worlds first daylight bank robbery. Wish us luck. Follow our adventures on TWITTER!"- Jesse.

Stupid. You wouldn't think that a company would need to have a policy for Facebook, then again, you would think that a driver would have enough gray matter between his ears to not want to blog every time he gets the runs from eating at CarlJrs.
