Just a tip, check the clearance between the frame, suspension components, and the inside of your tires. Some of these hotshot trailers don’t have much clearance and a chain with any slop to it at all (even with snuggers) can eat your trailer up.

The three axle single tire lowboys that we run, we prefer the socks because we don’t have much clearance. Besides that we don’t like carrying the extra weight of snow chains. If the road conditions get so bad that we’re having trouble getting through, we recommend to our Owner Operators that they find a safe place to park until the snow plows, sand/salt trucks do their job.

You cannot use autosocks for off-road applications. Autosocks have their place and their use. The upside, they are lighter, easier to handle than regular chains. The downside, you must be on snow/ice to run them, they will self destruct rapidly on dry or wet pavement. Even on snow/ice, your max speed is about 15 mph.
