I want to get smoke tarp for occasional water pipe loads. Do you guys like fitted or just a plain flat tarp with a couple rows of D-rings.

I'm leaning towards a fitted tarp. Tarpstop has them that are 8x8x2.

fitted nose tarps are great when they fit right. Such as insulation or lumber that is exactly square and 8' wide. anything that is a little narrower or not shaped square you'd be just as well off or better with a 10 x 12, even a 16x16 or a scrap from a ruined tarp can work just fine.

I bought a fitted, specifically I wanted one for that green pipe...figured fitted would keep it on while I'm trying not to fall off of the ladder... Results pending on that. If you throw a strap/chain over top to keep weight/ frictional tension on the top side a flat tarp will work just as well

Fitted is best. A Ratchet strap so it don't flap. Tech Tip. Bears leave you alone if your tarp looks good.
