These people are jokers specially Doug. First he drags his feet and delays the hiring process by days. He always says he will send you the paperwork whenever he can and he never does. Practically wants you to beg him for work day after day.

Their company is so cheap and hazardous they sometimes replace one bad tire trailer tire with another bad trailer tire and expect you to roll like that. I got a trailer that all my trailer tires on one side were garbage. I included a picture of a replacement tire in the bottom of this review.
Night dispatcher answers the phone very angrily while playing loud music or sleeping on other times. Gets bothered being asked a simple question he reacts incredibly rude that he is being bothered like if the driver is trash just for being alive.
I noticed nobody cares that drivers get abused at SmartWay.
I told Doug which supposedly is the vice president of Smartway but acts like an 8 year old clown. That I was quitting. His reply was him laughing at me. He even hinted the few unprofessional office people were having fun with it. I was bringing up some valid points like junk tires that can take a family out driving next to you on the highway. And they were laughing at that plus other points? Wow seriously what are they on?

I also had difficulty getting paid. Out of desperation I thought of working with them a second time, yeah I know dumb me. Desperation gets you to make the same mistakes. Good thing I found another place to work with instead.

Think twice and hard before working with them don't let desperation put you working with unprofessional dangerous jokers that will put you liable jeopardy of an accident or be responsible for someone's death of an exploding tire or causing an accident.
Or being treated like a mop which they wipe floors with drivers. I even showed a picture of the junk tire to the owner. A picture of a used tire that was replacing an already bad trailer tire and he was ok with it!!
He acted or made it seem that was normal and they do it often a common practice.
Out of all this I am projecting myself to leave trucking as overall trucking isn't paying much and you have to deal with people like Smartway.

I drive team and we put a lot of miles on trailers. I'm considering dirt poor compared to what these companies make. Which we make them more rich with our work. Me being dirt poor I could scrape change to buy a better tire that would not put the truck out of service better than that. Or explode in a few hundred miles. Large flying pieces of tire can cause wrecks by cars swerving . It was even wobbly on one side. This is the extreme example of a cheap owner. No driver should settle hauling a trailer with bad tires especially replacing bad with bad tires. Exposing themselves to causing a wreck and being faulted because the owner is a cheap dirtbag willing to wreck people on the road

Exactly! Some truckers don't care about dot regulations unfortunately. And getting placed out of service or causing an accident. While the rich cheap scumbag owners laugh all the way to the bank. Owners think they'll take their bank numbers passed the grave while stomping on other humans. SmartWay is a good size trucking operation with money. No pride in their work or are careless to hurt others on the road. My grandmother use to say "if they're that sloppy just imagine what their underwear and home looks like" Eww..

I'm with you, I didn't see anything wrong with that tire either. I think drivers feel like if a tire doesn't have that brand new tread depth, then it's a bad tire. There's still quite a bit of meat on that tire. Maybe there are bald spots on the other side, but I've definitely pulled far worse.

The tire isn't that bad. If it was a steer tire I'd get it replaced but used as a trailer tire it still has some mileage left.
You're observant and you get points for noticing it but don't make it into a situation where your boss sees you as a whiner and a trouble maker. If you make him mad enough he'll replace the tire. He'll also replace you.

I have a depth gauge. When I take a picture of an out of service tire I hold the gauge on the tire. Even if they can't see the numbers, it shows that I checked the depth and that's why it's oos.

It was us that we quit with them.
It was less than 2 32nds and yes I do carry a tire depth gauge. I'm sure I also mentioned it was wobbly on one side. You do know DRY ROT in aged tires is a thing right? If you look at all the treads in TR you can see than you guys that are the same commentators tend to sometimes reply out of reason in which is how ya'll have fun with someone. And that's fine.
The important thing is getting the word out. If you think that tire is perfectly fine I will specifically pay 3k dollar bonus for you specifically to drive for them after a year of employment. As I found a better place myself to work with. And I have no need at this moment to work with careless abusers which is "SmartWay Express".

I never thought about holding the gauge next to the tire while taking a picture. I would if I could go back in time. But then again I would be driving for them. And well I wouldn't want to go back in time. But good suggestion.
